Swapped the front beam off of the Vert onto the Grey Baja after I found the lower Ball joints were both ready to come apart.

I forgot about this Thread! I haven't done jack out in this heat on my bug nor drove it during the day!

I've wheeled it now at least 3 times with nothing going wrong so I'm very happy with it. Still need to fix the oil leak, would like to paint it, etc. So I've been busy cleaning the Garage so I can work on it in there.

There's always more to do, but these aren't the months were a VW is the primary vehicle. Smile I stick to the cars with A/C! LOL

Baaa, I've wheeled our sandrail up in the Bradshaws a few times this year after a 15 year hibernation, on 28 year old tires even, and drive it on the street 2-3 times a week Laughing

Not so much as a hickup.

There, now I've jinxed everybody Laughing

So I found one of my front tires had gone flat and it wasn't repairable. Fortunately I was able to score a pair from another AZBaja Member!!! Thanks!

They're taller than what I had so I may have to cut the fenders a bit. I'll see what they look like when mounted and go from there. Do the rub and cut method. Smile

Did some trimming to make room for the New to Me tires I got for the Front end. I only needed to cut on one fender, the other was already cut for a big ass tire!

I also cut out some more of the pinch seam where the tire rubbed the body. That regained a little of my turning radius. Smile

Now the backs just seem a little small. LOL

I removed the collector I had on the exhaust because everyone was shocked I hadn't been harassed yet due to it being in front of the Licence plate. I put the original from the empi back on and am going to weld on a glasspack cherry bomb with additional support to make it quieter. Just too damned hot.

I welded up the Glasspack and a small brace to the bolt area kinda like the EMPI exhaust had. BIG Difference. Hopefully the Wife and Kids approve.

Now I have to look at the brakes, something weird is going on now. Figures. LOL It'll have to wait till tomorrow or this weekend. It's too hot for me to do anything else on it right now.

Got back and snapped a Picture...

I remember when you could buy basic parts for a VW at BAP...

They didn't have the Springs etc that hold down the brake shoes to the backing plate. They could order for about $26 dollars or so $10 of it being for Shipping!

No Thanks, I went to O'reilly's just to check on the way home and they could also order, but the same thing which is a complete spring and retainer kit for both sides was only about $7. Exact same picture that I saw on the BAP computer! I asked them for Two. No shipping Charge and he said they'd be in around 4:30PM. Juan called me at about 4:19 to come get them!

LOL, I've had some new shoes laying around forever. Go to use them and they're too wide. Back to the Parts store... At least new ones are Cheap.

So I'll have to assume for now that they're Front Shoes. I'll have to compare them when I inspect the front brakes next. Smile

OMG, it's so Hot and Muggy. I'm drenched! I was able to get it back together, however, I'm seriously going to need to address axle leaking gear oil into the drum. Not till it's cooler out. LOL

It's the back part of your studs that is ripping the Springs off your brake shoes... You can either space the drum out or grind the back of the studs..
