I'm opening up the front fenders on my pickup to accomodate larger tires. I had 33 x 12.5 x 16.5 on it but now it is getting 36 x 12.50 x 16.5 Goodyear Wrangler MTs.

alphatread.com/tires/h...gler-rt-ii

The 33s rubbed a little on the inner fender and the spare 35 " tire rubbed a lot on the inner fender. So off came the fender. I had already done Joes recovery truck like this but this time I wanted less cuts and welds.

A little work with the cut off wheel and drill yielded a nice pile of sheet metal.

I moved it out five inches from the front and back of the tire and raised it about three inches. You can see by the white paint how far things are moved from stock. Before the tire was an inch from the front and rear of the fender and less than an inch from the top of the fender.

Next I fabricated the missing piece in the middle from a piece I cut off the rear.

Heree I am welding back in the section of inner fender that was cut out to straighten a dent in the middle of where I was trimming the panel. It had to be straight before cutting it out as it needed to lay flat on the rear most edge of the fender next to the door.

This is what I'm trying to avoid. There are at least four pieces welded together to make the bottom of the front fender.

Plan is to do this part with just two pieces. Looks like three, had to add a small strip as the corner moved towards the wheel and away from the valance when it was shortened.

It is still much cleaner than my first one.

Here is a link to my first set of opened up fender build.

Hmmm...

perri's customs. Should we be looking for your show on cable?

How much to bag a truck like that so it lays on the rails?

Ya gonna have a booth at the next truck jam? You know - Offroad chrome bling on the grass! Massive lift kits and 24" rims and piles of chrome shocks!

;~)

Nice work!

I'm still working on the fenders. I'm getting the truck they are going on ready for them.

While it might look cool it is up to high and rides like it has no suspension the springs might move 4".
To make it ride nice the rear springs are being replaced by longer later model Chevy springs. This is being done as cheap as possible I hope to add 10" of travel for less than $250.00 Springs $69, flip u bolt perches $40, U bolts $50.00, Rivets and bolts $40. Steel $30.00 ) The rear spring perches are being flipped and the fronts lowered 3' and moved forward about 4 and 1/2 inches.

First thing was to remove the tool boxes and rock sliders. I moved the perches forward and down but later moved them down more.

Next I cut out the bottoms of the rear spring perches and flipped the shackles.

The springs are very close to being where they belong. I now have four inches of up travel and 10" of droop.

A bit of progress. I made these to tie in the frame and lowered front brackets. It also straightened out the frame to fit on a single post lift better and make it easier to fabricate a skid plate.

Trial fit.

There has been a bit of progress:
These are bolt in. They should stiffen the frame splice as well as hold the perches.

Passenger side still under construction

Drivers done at last.
