AHHHH I know it you're talking about. A lot of people use these for speedometers and on some motors you need to have it to prevent the motor from stalling when you break hard... It also depends on how sophisticated your ECU is... The variable speed sensor allows you to get an electronic signal to a speedometer that can be programmed to any tire size... When they first came out I was quick to jump on board... I should've waited... There was a lot of voodoo involved to get the speedometer programmed correctly and the pickup sensor did not respond well to off-roading.. I found myself messing with it too often and could not trust the gauge.. So I ripped it out... My car had a tachometer so what I did was I got out on the highway with a sharpie and marked the tachometer with the chase vehicle at 60, 70, and 80 in fifth gear as long as I didn't change my tire size it was pretty accurate I did this for years. And around town I would just take it easy and make sure that I wasn't the fastest moving vehicle,, today a less expensive way is just to buy a GPS and use the car as the power source.,., No fuss no muss it works! It doesn't matter if I change my tire size or what gear I am in it will always read properly,,, nowadays you can probably pick up a GPS for about 40 bucks!

Dalton, what about that area behind the rear seat for the air cleaner that way it will not get nocked off by a branch, or maybe on the role cage inside.

I thought about sticking it in my speaker box along with the ECU and heater.. I still have that option available to me and I just may do that. It would mean cutting a hole in my firewall and I've been trying very hard not to do that.. I'm not really worried about a branch ripping my air cleaner off without the air cleaner the car will still run all the vital components are inside the rear cage..

Besides I'm not planning on racing this car.. I built it so that I could drive at a reasonable speed comfortably down some back woods trails.. If I beat on this car I will break it in half. I have more motor then my suspension can back up.

Here it is the middle of summer and am working on the heater.. If you're wondering why it's because it is the largest item that is going into my speaker box, I wasn't quite sure how it would all work out when I started.. It took me a few days to figure it out.. I think it came out extremely clean and I'm very happy with the results can't wait to check it out this winter.. I think I'm the first one ever to use the stock heater channels to heat the car with the water pumper heater core. I kind of went overkill on the blower motor it's a 4600 CFM blower.. When I first turned it on it almost spun out of my hands it has a three speed resistor built right into it I doubt that I'll ever need to use high-speed.. I just have a few more modifications to the speaker box and I'll be ready to be re-mounted into the car..

I think I've decided on an aftermarket radiator and the set of electric fans I want to sit on it for 24 hours before I place this order because to change anything after its already built would be difficult.

I plan on this weekend getting started on the electrical system..

I've finished the plumbing on the power steering and blood the system it took a little over a quart to fill it.. Once the vehicle starts I'll have to keep an eye on it so that I don't run the pump dry.

Work on the wiring harness today... I've got the speaker box ready for the ECU and cut the whole in the bottom of the body.. I sealed everything up with silicone.. But I'm not happy with the wiring harness I've decided to walk away from it and sleep on it.. I am just being picky that's all... My fans are going to pull about 10A a piece... So I don't think I'm in a be able to use some of the stock harness I need to do some more research.. I don't want to put the relays outside where the weather can get to them.. This will only cause problems a couple years down the road.. I've decided on running my fans as a team with both of them coming on and off at the same time this will save me a lot of headache... I think I'm in a run another condenser underneath the radiator.. Condensers are relatively cheap and I'm thinking I might as well... I ordered my radiator the other day I been playing phone tag with the AutoCAD designer I spoke to the owner of the company and he says this delay will not lose my place in line there about three weeks out.. So I'm not going to worry about it...

Haven't come across any worthy photos to post.. As soon as I do off throw one or two up...

I used a much simpler, fixed Temp version of this...

www.etrailer.com/Radia...16789.html

Works great! All you'd have to do is intercept the A/C power wire so it knows when the A/C clutch is engaged and it'll turn on both fans. Not really needed as much because your condenser(s) are remote.

Wire in to the Ignition switch so it knows when the car is on. Pretty simple. Especially if you have a good place to mount the sensor. The two times I used a kit like this, I drilled/Tapped a hole out on the aluminum housing for the T-Stat. I figured this part is removable and if it screwed up it would be easy to replace. Worked perfect.

If it were me I'd opt for a cheaper version like what I got, this was just the first thing that came up and it has sufficient AMP rating of 35A so I don't think you'd have a problem with your fans drawing too much current.

This looks like the one I got.

www.etrailer.com/Radia...16720.html

To control the 2 12" fans on my Xterra Condenser coil I bought a relay from McMaster Carr out of California. Still working great. Going on at least 4 years now. Main Power taps from the Battery and Coil power is tapped off of the A/C Clutch in Parallel. Each fan has its own fuse for redundancy.

Nice set up.... But remember I'm running in 0EM stock computer that has all that functionality built directly into it. it shuts off the clutch when I'm starting the vehicle and it doesn't power on the fans in less the vehicles running the issue then I'm facing is the gauge of the wires that go to the waterproof connectors I am using I don't think that the wires will be able to handle the 10 amp draw that each fan will be pulling, if I guess wrong it could smoke my harness and do a lot of damage... After sleeping on it I've decided to look for a heavier gauge waterproof connector to used to run my fans.. But it beats doing damage to the main wiring harness and leaving me stranded somewhere..

Well I finished up my speaker box in I think it came out really really well.. I also worked on finishing up my wiring harness now it's time to start grafting it into the car.

Now I need to make an access hole through the floorboard to the motor.. This must mimic the rubber Gromit that I'm using.. After sealing it up with silicone so that it won't leak it'll be time for me to put my speaker box back into place for the final time..
