As I was going through my photo album I came across this fun little photo. The trailer has independent rear suspension that is dampened and can hold all my camping gear. Someday I plan to take this vehicle to Colorado in camp out of it for 10 days moving from point to point with my family.

Well I've been working on the air system for two days. Everything that I come up with either looks stupid or blocks my rear view... I thought I had it all worked out last Sunday but when I started piping it it looked cheesy..... So I ripped it all off and I've been fighting it ever since I've come up with an idea I plan the pipe it today and see how it looks.. I didn't take any pictures of the dorky looking piping or the ones that block my view I was too frustrated to stop.. Did some research on the cooling system and visited a few junkyards... I've discovered that an OEM solution will not work in my application.. They just don't have enough surface area, I don't want to go through all the trouble of mounting the radiator to find out that it is inadequate for my application.. The last two radiators I got from Ron Davis I'd found the quality to be very poor. And when I took it back I was told that there is no warranty with the non-OEM application. I tried to point out that the failure was due to poor workmanship and not the application that it was used in... They said that the only way to repair the radiator was to replace it and that they were not going to do that. I explained to them that if they do not repair the problem on my brand-new radiator that I'd never buy their product again and I would instruct others not to use their product..

I was politely shown the door.

this is what I came up with.... I am not 100% happy but I can live with it until I figure out something better. I made it all come off with out leaving a trace of what it was...

it does not block my view and I can cross some DEEP water before I need to worry about drowning the motor. it is all sealed ...

Dawn (my wife ) said that "if we get into water that deep ... I think I want to get out and swim... it maybe safer." it made me smile...

In reality I placed it into an area that I'd get the best clean air.. If I put the air cleaner in an area where the dust is I will be cleaning it all the time or losing performance... In my rail when I find myself faced with a deep water crossing I have to drive out into the water and allow the cab to flood once the cab is flooded I am able to get enough traction to make the water crossing even in the current... If I don't allow the cab to flood before I attempted a water crossing my rail tends to float and then I am at the mercy of the current... This my friends is very bad... Maybe with the placement of the go Pro out be able to record this event... It kind of seems stupid why you sit there and allow your cab to flood it kind of goes against your normal thinking of just punching it and go.. But it works every time. Two times in my history I've had to undo my seatbelt in the middle of the water crossing so that I could breathe while still keeping my foot smashed on the accelerator pedal... Ever notice why my expensive electronics are all mounted to the roof of my vehicle... That would be why..

LOL, I don't like water crossings!

Looking good Dalton, I'd just be concerned when going near trees. A branch might want to test your fabrication skills!

The Doughnut came out great!

I hope you can find a suitable radiator for that thing! Amazing how shops still expect customers with that kind of service, and they think that we don't talk to each other or something. :rolleyes

Thanks Adam...

I'm probably going to re- think the clean air system at a later date for now I'm looking at it like" it'll work for now" after I get more the car together...

I really don't like water crossings either they were fun at the beginning but these cars really aren't made to go in deep water... It usually involves me going through the bearings and my CV's checking for water.... Not to mention everything in the entire car getting wet..

Now I look at it like " I could if I had to" philosophy..

Now mud... I really hate that stuff... sure is fun to drive in, but once it dries its permanent.. I think they call it Adobe.. Now if I go out and play in the mud I bring the car home immediately park it in an area of my yard that I need to raise the grade and put a sprinkler underneath of it and wash off the mud immediately...

Hi Dalton,

Car is coming along real nice. Do you need a VSS with your Subaru engine?

VSS is variable speed sensor. I see on other builds that they all seem to run a vss off the rear cv with a sensor mounted and reading a sensor wheel/gage mounted to the cv. Don't know if you need one or not but I seem to see a lot of them. Maybe only on the ecotec installs ?

Dalton, what about that area behind the rear seat for the air cleaner that way it will not get nocked off by a branch, or maybe on the role cage inside.
