Decided to change/add a few things to our rail to make it more usefull.

Moving the gas tank further rearward and removing the storage tray and a couple of cross bars to make room for a small low back 3rd seat I'm adding.

After thats done this week, I'll probably start making a detatchable roof rack to carry supplies when we need it since the storage tray is now history.

Looks really good in person.

I was also at Cruisin on Central but with my 50 Chevy.

Got the body lift and only 4 holes lined up on the sides. Ended up cutting the welds at their bends and re did the bends until everything lined up. Then re welded everything back in place. Now in the rear, the bottom holes in the lift line up but the top holes don't. When they made the lift they drilled the holes strait through and didn't take into consideration that the bolts that go from the back of the body into the pan go at an angle. Oh well ... it's an easy fix to drill new holes.

I never understood a body lift... it does not give you any more ground clearance,,,, looks good when it is done right.

maybe someone can help me understand?

A body lift alone will allow you to run a little taller tire thus increasing ground clearance. Body lift plus suspension lift will let you run even taller tires which in turn will increase ground clearance even more.

I would also think the body lift would allow the suspension to compress more before hitting the rear fender wells or front fiberglass.

Also they increase headroom for us guys over 6' tall. I think they have their benefits.

Thank you I think I understand a little better...

I is set up my suspension to run 33 10.50s in the rear and just lived with the fact that if I wanted to put my 35 on the rear of my Baja I would have to take it easy otherwise I'd blow the rear fenders off my car if I used the body left it would solve that problem for me.

And I'm only 5' 9" which makes me a good fit without a body lift.

Now you have me thinking...............

Pulled the motor out of my red Baja "Bugzyla" that has been sitting for a few years. Sold the motor to make room for the future Ecotec conversion. I plan on taking the car back apart and redoing it sometime real soon.

Pulled out in the drive way and washed off the dust. Going to but it in a car show this weekend.

Drove all around yesterday and the day before and I still had much better oil pressure! (oil light hasn't come on)

Took my Brother-In-Law from TX to a bug salvage yard on Broadway and about 31st Ave so he could get some parts for his 63 Beetle that he couldn't get in TX. I managed to walk out without buying anything, but it was tough!

It's great driving that Baja and I get a lot of people looking when they hear me coming! It just is a little warm out toward the end of the day right now, so I don't know how much more I'll drive it in town.

Gauges are showing when hot and idle at 1K, Oil Temp/Press 180*/12Psi, Cyl #3 Temp about 300*

This is with a power pulley and Alternator that has the cheap assed belt that you get at Bap that I still need to replace before it chews up my Alt Pulley.

Runs real good now, just a little stumble off the line, so still need to do more tweaking. It's real driveable now that I don't have to worry about oil pressure. Smile It might all be because of my particular setup, I'm keeping an eye out for a real Vacuum advance distributor to try instead of the 009.

I also want to hear about which car show. I'm hoping to make the next Lundes meetup, next Friday?

You guys all all kinds of cruise inns every weekend in different parts of the valley. I'm assuming that's what you mean?
Or are you talking about a real car show that you pay to attend?

I frequent the cruise inns down there a couple times a month. I'm either at 67th and Bell on Saturday nights, or I wind up at the Pavilions in Scottsdale. But there are many others to choose from.
