well I am getting started on the Subaru... it seems that I don't have a blown motor after all the previous owner screwed up a timing belt change horribly and broke the pickup sensors on the crank gear with the spare motor I bought I was able to salvage the crank gear and get the motor running I started on the wiring harness and thankful to see that it is not as bad as a Nissan Maxima harness it's about half the size plus this harness does not come equipped with the chip in the key so I don't have to worry about the vehicle security system and overwriting it I ran diagnostics on the motor and computer both of them are checking out fine I don't think the nominee use the motor in the car because of some damage that was done to the crank by the previous owner I could probably use it for a setup Jig I don't think I would hesitate welding on this engine. I've already removed the power steering pump and started making the necessary modifications to adapt it to my Baja I've removed in oil pan off my spare motor and started the process of shortening the oil pan. Within the next couple of days I plan on having the wiring harness successfully removed than I planned to pull the motor and get it running on the ground and then I'll start the long process of removing all the unnecessary wires I think this time I meant to keep a log so If I ever do a Subaru 2.5 L again all have a clear idea of what wires to delete from the harness.

Not sure I am happy with either engine both engines have some problems. I knew when I picked in engine that has been out of production for 13 years I knew the proper donor motor may be a challenge. I'm happy with the look and the horsepower rating of this particular motor.

Well I bought a motor from JDM racing... OUCH!!!?!?

I still working on the wireing... I made a few mistakes this weekend that cost me about six hours. If you don't have patience I don't believe that you should attempt this endeavor... I haven't cut the wrong wire yet but I had some plumbing problems I've got most of the interior wiring harness grafted and ready to be removed I think I should have it done within a few more hours this is a very slow process because the diagnostics that I run take about 15 minutes per change.

I had to pull the ad from craigslist's between lowballers and the folks who want to buy the entire car I wasn't able to get much work done. I will repost the car when I have the time to deal with these folks.

I have a few more photos and will probably post later this week it's not really a mess yet but it's getting close.

all this .... The wires I have already located are the tachometer, fuel pump relay, AC on/idle step up, and the fan relays. I was surprised to find how low the fuel pressure is on this motor at idle it's only 25 psi underload 40 psi that would explain why Subaru uses such a large injector on this motor.
If anybody was wondering what an E2000 fuel pump looks like there it is.
They cost around 90 bucks this one's the one that I carry as a spare in the rail, I haven't lost the fuel pump since I moved the fuel filter just before the electronic fuel pump in doing this you make the fuel pump work harder but you're able to keep the fine particles of sand out of your pump in tearing up the gears.

Now that I've ordered a motor from JDM racing is anybody out there thinking about running a Subaru 2.5 L motor and the ride I have a motor here it appears to have low mileage it just needs its gaskets replaced when I bought the motor I was told that it only had 90,000 miles on give me a call and I will cut you deal.
