Just got done installing my new dome light. Repurposed the 35mm portion of an old flatbed scanner. Smile Wired into the existing dome circuit to come on when the doors are opened.

Of course earlier I was showing my friend Tomas before I sheilded the electronics and completely spaced the high voltage being there and Sissszle. I have two nice holes in my finger! LOL Hurt like hell and smelled.

One new EMPI lifted spindle was bad out of the box. Seems that EMPI had a mfg problem with these spindles and they have discontinued these spindles.Trying to source a new set that will match the disc brake setup, we shall see what happens, may have to just return this whole package and go another route...

The Baja chased the Jeep again. Geting all the little BS stuff and like to have done. Done... Smile Car is close in fact it should run once the fuel lines are hooked up.

Worked some more last night on the Carb and finally got all the passages opened, unfortunately at the detriment of my Fluke Meter that was in the way when one opened up and spewed it with carb cleaner, calcium, gunk mix. If I'd have noticed earlier, I probably could have wiped it off, but it was there too long and ate the plastic.

Started on the top half, not much to do there, but might as well clean it too. In the Gunk goes it and all the jets, etc.

UPDATE
Pulled the stuff out of the Gunk and it's so so, but clean enough. I have one jet that's plugged and I'll have to pick at it. Not sure I'll even be using it anyways, but might as well clean it.

I did some research and found out on another forum that the Progressive 32/36 is the Same as a Holley 5200 which came on the Pinto.
I found the rebuild kit at oreilys, just look it up as a 1973 Ford Pinto
L4 - 2.0L vin X 122ci 1989cc - GAS

Just picked it up at Oreily's Call ahead so they can have one there for you. Most likely it'll be coming from the wherehouse.

Walker Products - Carburetor Tune Up Kit Part #15490E

Just under $40 with tax. So far it looks like it'll work. I have a couple more jets to clean before reassembly. My biggest problem is the little plunger thing in the bottom of the bowl. I didn't see it in any of the kits for this carb so I hope I can get it clean enough to work. I know this part of these carbs can be touchy to begin with. If you run into an extra one from a disposed weber... Smile

Found a new spare for the Thing. Now I can sell off the set of 4 Thing wheels and tires (I was using one for a spare).

Got it to pass smog, then broke a throttle cable on the way home from work.

I traded a couple of bumpers and fenders for 2 002 transaxles (one I had to pull) and a 1967 Bug pan with current registration! Best deal I've gotten in quite a while!

Installed my 091 and motor on the pan to recheck for fittment. Then took the trailing arms and spring plate caps in to have then powder coated.

Had to order new spring plates as mine were wore out. Also ordered front and rear disc brake kits along with a few other items. Can't wait till they all get here so I can do more.

Bought one of these. Not very exciting until you know what it is.

Will not work on the car as it sits. So that means I will have to go from a 3.0 to a 3.5. (More power in my future!) Started sourcing parts this week. Hope to have the deal all done in a few weeks. Goal is 300 hp at the crank. If that is not enough then Turbo.

Yes, it is a sickness.

Remember when Mortal combat came out and it was a big deal over the Spinal cord being ripped from the enemy?

Kinda reminds me of that! LOL Smile

BTW - I tried to start my bug while my friend was visiting from TX and there's some kind of weird grinding when the starter is engaged and it gets worse the longer you crank. I think it probably went bad or lost a bearing or something. It also cranks slower and slower, so I'm not sure if it's a crap battery or both.

Went down to Karls today and John hooked me up with a new oil pump and puller.

Installed and it appears to be better than the last, but I won't know until I drive it for a sustained period.

Just for fun, I put a collector on instead of the muffler, man that's loud! LOL
