If you're that new to it. If the 73 is still in good shape, you might consider selling it or trading it for a already cut and rolling/running Baja.

As I'm sure you know they always require attention and Driving off-road can wear things out that much quicker. I'm thinking for a novice, a built and proven Baja that may need some cosmetics, but otherwise mechanically sound could be a good investment.

Once you consider everything you need to buy to make hers into what you want, you may have bitten off a little to much. Someone elses Baja will be cut, Fiberglass kit already installed, off-road shocks, tires, rims, carb and engine modifications, roll-cage, front and rear bumpers, side nerf bars, skid plate, etc. You'll drop a pretty penny and put a lot of time into it to get to just there on your own and by then you might want to give up.

Welcome to AZbaja!

hi fatal70

big fan of some of the work I saw of you german metal guys down at bugtoberfest (my girlfriend kept telling me I need to get one of those plates you guys carry). that hydraulics bug was particularly cool. also the hood on your flat black bug is just darn gnarly.

anyway, as for your wifes baja...
I'm not very versed on the differences between bug years, but if your 73 is a super beetle, then it is generally recommended that you ditch it and get a non-super to make a baja of. IRS rear suspension and link pin front seems to be the preferred way to do when making a baja, and supers seem to make that a bit complicated.

as far as what to do specifically, it all depends on what your hoping to get out of your baja. are you hoping for a daily driver, or something to tear up the trails with and have very little freeway time with?

but there is a wealth of info on this site, so try and figure out what specifically you want to do, an chances are AZBaja can help
