WOW! Nevermind. LOL You might be able to hit it all with 500 Grit wetsand then buff back out, but some of those runs you might scrape off with a razor blade to speed things up, just be careful not to go to deep.

You don't like the color, so I guess there's no point. Smile Never seen a job so bad, you'd a thought after getting some runs on the fender they would have stopped there. Looks like it orange peeled real bad too, so they probably didn't do a good prep job anyway.

Best of luck!

I like the color. But also liked the paint scheme on the old Bug. The runs could be sanded out if they bother you bad, and they would bother me quite a bit, even if it IS an offroad car. I like the "Babe" reference. It would be especially applicable in Canada or like Minnesota or Wisconsin.

For runs like that, have you heard of a tool called a "nib cutter" ? It's a small piece like a disc with curved cutting edges on one side. Kinda like those curved tooth files for soft materials. You slide it over the runs to cut them off without sanding the surrounding area down through the finish. Then sand the area smooth and polish.

Cool!

Never seen that before, probably easier than holding the razorblade perfectly.

If your the painter those are crying towels. Space Age has the nib cutter in stock that and some careful wheel work and only U will see them. You won't go wrong with the T-2, three rib 5.36 R/p transaxle.

Got some more headway made today. Got the passenger side rear floor fixed up & most of the cage installed. Found out the hard way that the seats are no longer removable with the cage in, so my idea of using the factory seat bottoms to mount the suspension seats was all for not. Ended up modifying the seat bottoms to get them on the track with the cage in then bolting the seats in after. Gonna make getting in the back a PITA now, but it is what it is at this point. Still gotta add some tube for the harness mounts, clean & paint the floors & install door panels, but the interior is getting close to finished. Also found out the firewall is rusted & broken big time. The previous owner used muffler fix to "fix" it, so I'll be cutting all that out when I have the motor & trans out.

Also got some LED interior lights installed last night, I'll get pics when it gets darker outside.

Interior lights:

Still have a few more to add for better coverage, but I need to get the rest of the interior in before I install the rest.

Messing around with Photoshop tonight, trying to see if I want to change the color on the car. I'm thinking of just doing the silver on the middle section, minus the black wheels. I'm going to PlastiDip them black to see if I like it or not. If not, it's easy to peel off & I'm only out $22.

Looks like the job was done with a Hudson Sprayer.

Those "curtains" might be a bit much for a nib cutter. Nib cutters are for dust specks and fly turds. You might need a cheese grater.

I like that scheme too, but paint is far down on the list of things to do at this point Smile

Dropped the car off at my buddy's shop this morning so I could pull the motor & trans out tonight so he can get dimensions off the firewall & bend me up a panel to weld in. Went by after work & got it out. I took the tins off and I'll be dropping them off at the powder coater in the AM.

I also found a used type 1 trans that I'm gonna stick in there for now to replace my current 3 speed trans, fingers crossed that it works. If it works good enough for now, I'll focus my attention on the other stuff I need to get the car ready for the dunes.
