So I am about to buy my first baja and it has no rear seat which is fine except I'd like to take the wife and child out in it. She is 4yrs old so I would need a rear seat and seat belts any ideas on how I can accomplish this for a reasonable price?? The bug is a 1964 thanks guys

i think the cheapest way that would accomodate her perfectly would be do build a metal frame to install her car seat into your baja. you can build it in the center and higher than a normal seat so that she could see well. the cool thing is that she probably has cup holders built in. a little angle iron and a small welder and your there. you will still have room on both sides for a cooler. i am in n phoenix its a bit far but i would be willing to help for no charge
good luck

that is a great idea.. just weld in a seat holder and something to attach the back part of the car seats belt and for added safety weld mounts for a standard lap belt and you can buy belts for $32 i found.. good idea, still open to sugestions but that seems like best case.. just need to find a welder

My vote is find a rear seat and install 12" chains under the seat belt bolts for the car seat to attch too. It's nice to have a seat you can put an ice chest on or jackets or whatever insted of those things rolling on the floor. That's what I did in my baja and my 3 year old girl sits in it. My 4 year old is in a booster seat with a 4 point harness and my 6 year old sits between them in a harness.

ejbbal21 has a good idea build tray type design so you can have good platform for a large cooler or storage if you do not have child. then build a seat mount the cinches the car seat into it. I used 2 inch racheting tie down for my kid it worked great. i could get it real tight. (not a cheap Harbor Freight one) you could even build a foot rest and Oh Shit bar. Then you could strap coolers to the platform.
