yep a cage is next just after I get some springs for my coil over shocks up front. The trick is to cage it while still keeping my back seat. Just about every time I get in it one or more of my kid are in the back seat.

Greased up a wheel bearing, Greased up the front end. Dropped my shocks off at www.raceshock.com/ to get them rebuilt.

Will start the full tear out of the front end this week and next week.

Now that Bad news Sad

When I had the car built the front end had stock front arms and stock front beam. After the years things have changed. I have a wider front beam and 1x1 front arms...Sounds cool...?

Well I now have a problem. The tie rod hits the cage about half way up the wheel travel on the passange side of the car. Looks like I need a Tube/Brace on the cage clearnaced so I can get full wheel travel. I will move a spacer around and hope to gain that little bit of space I need. If it does not work it will go back to Bug Zs place and have a brace moved and rewelded in place. the driver side is fine. Looks like that brace was welded a little further forward on the right side, about an 1/4" or so. If I had the old arms on the baja I would not have a problem.

My old race Hi Jumper had a similar problem, although it never got long arms on the front. After some race damage to the frame in the area of the tie rod openings, I had San Fernando Buggy add some vertical bars behind the tie rods. They got the right side too far forward and I destroyed a chrome moly tie rod and the upright tube the 1st time out from interference.

Getting closer to picking up a 73 Thing. I spoke to him tonight, and go see it tomorrow. The pictures look good. The hood, windshield, doors, fenders, lights, dash are disassembled. The seats are not original, and probably are from a conversion van. It will need better seats. Suppose to have 2 engines and good electrical and transaxle. I may finally be getting my Thing I've wanted for a long time.

Completed the cooling lines today, they are ready to install. Got most of the bumper and rear frame tacked together. Next to weld it all up and I hope to install for the last time before test drive. Rolling Eyes

Sorry man.. I'll keep my eyes open for ya-!
I'm still trying to get Type-3 hubs that work; I orderd a set on-line and Perry was putting it together for me, but the stuff is so cheap (Chinese I assume) it keeps stripping out -its like cast iron.

It has been three weeks since I drove it due to surgery and this morning it started on second try. Cant drive it for at least another month and at that it will only be on the streets, but it is nice to know it still runs.

Had to tear both window regulators out. They were get'n stuck. Not good with t-storms brewing at any time season. I'm hoping I can turn the cable to an area that's not used and reuse these. Wink

Hopefully they'll be working for your trip back home. I had my brakes go out and had to use curbs to stop (No e-brake), fortunately I was able to take small side streets all the way from downtown PHX to 83rd and Ind Sch Rd. and hit most of the lights green.

Memories... Smile

Its all good plenty of stopping power, replaced the master, got all corners bleed and adjusted the pushrod. Now she stops great.
