Finally got it figured out.
1966, 1600 daul port, needs some work, but that is why it is a project, drive it everyday to work.

When you dig into it there are drains on each corner of the sun roof. There are drain tubes hocked to them that are ether plugged up to rotted off.
That will be why it is dripping on you so fix them and rip off the tape.

I need to buy the felt rain channels that go in there, but i have bigger problems than that. I keep burning up generators, i have replaced it twice in the last 6 weeks, i have replaced the voltage regulator as well. One other thing that might be related is when i drive down the road, and put my arm out the window, i get shocked, so i know i have a wire grounding somewhere but i cant find it. any ideas???????

Look for wires that the insulation is cooked. Wire strands showing through, melted looking, toasted brown to black, etc. Wires rubbing on edges are a prime source of trouble.

Failing that, pulling one fuse at a time and driving to see if you get shocked is another method of diagnosis. Of course, if the 1st fuse is not it, put it back in and go to the 2nd fuse.

But a short bad enough to shock you should be blowing fuses anyway. So look for something wired without a fuse. Older Bugs have often been worked on by a bunch of different people who thought they knew what they were doing, but really didn't.

Do you get shocked with the headlights on, but not off? Does it happen when the radio is on? Do all the lights work as they should? Headlights? Turn? Tail? Brake? Is it charging the battery when running? does it shock you if the engine is not running? It could be a plug wire rubbing on the body. Most 12V shocks are not readily felt. Ignition short are 20,000 to 40,000 volts, and while not a lot of amps, can definitely be felt sharply.

Thanks for the tips, MojaveRacer, didn't even think to check all that stuff. Lights on or off, doesn't matter still get the same result, same with the radio, everything is working as it should, Brake lights, turn, tail, no blinkers the 9 wire, flasher is out, and it only shocks when it is running, so i am in the process of checking all the ignition wires. It doesn't drain the battery if it sits for awhile. I went out of town for a week, last month and when i got home it fired right up. I am going to do a continuity test on the ignition wire, hopefully that will be productive.

Here's another question, I noticed this when i bought it but didn't think to much about it until now. As i am chasing wire trying to find the source of the problem i am having, i find a starter solenoid on the starter where it belongs, also mounted on the fire wall i find another solenoid ( the ford type looking kind) wired in the circuit. What is the purpose of this second solenoid? any ideas would be appreciated

I use a BOSCH relay 30A or 40A, Both work.

You use the realy so your not putting all the current down the one wire that comes in from your starter wire aka Key. What your doing is clicking the relay and jump starting the solenoid with more juice.

I have mine set up so once you hit the starter the volts jump from the main positve lug on the starter to the to the solenoid by a 12g wire.

Why would you do this? As the wires to the starter get old and start to fail you might not have the juice to kick the starter solenoid.

Thin about the path the the elctricity must take. Battery to front of car pass the key and back out the back to the starter might not sound like much but it can added up. With the relay it jumps off the fat battery cable at the starter and then back to the solenoid.

Thanks AZBAJA, it makes sense, and i lu of that i think i will wire it back in, good thing i drew a schematic before i took it apart. Just as a note as i read through the forums, you guys have a wealth of knowledge, and guys like me who have just found this awesome, Hobby, (Love affair) with Bajaing, truly do appreciate you.
