Hi all. I'm Chris from Tempe. My buddy Grag and I recently acquired a Class 11 car. You can check it out at www.pepeazul.com
We flew to Fresno the Friday before Bugorama, purchased and drove the car back site unseen. I think we met a few of you late in the day at Bugorama. Anyhow, we've been taking the car out for a little testing and plan to race it in AZDRA and Baja 1000 this year. Also hoping to do some weekend trail runs with the group.
Look forward to meeting more of you.
Chris

Excellent guys. Class 11 is a tough class. I wish you the best of luck. If you really want to get you feet wet and learn a lot about class 11 check out a CODE race. They get huge numbers and some of the most innovative ideas can been seen on these cars.

Also, if you want a good idea what baja will be like you could run the SADR race in Rocky Point. I think it is late Sept. Cholla 250

My team is currently scheduled to run the SADR Cholla 250 in Rocky Point on Sept 21/22. If you decide to enter that race let me know. We could help out with pitting for your car.

Thanks guys. DirtJunkie, try 680 miles!! We took the long way through Vegas and even stopped for a few hours at the Mint 400 on the way home!
Woms, nice call on the CODE races. For some reason, I had written CODE off in my mind. Now that I looked at it again, it looks perfect and the big 11 turnouts are awesome! Are you running a 10 car for the SADR race? I had mostly written them off as well, because they don't have an 11 class (not that we couldn't run in something else) and, AFAIK, no 11 cars in the past. We definitely want to do the next Thunder Rock race. We need seat time badly. I raced quads desert and MX for a while so have a little experience but need more so we'll have to re-examine SADR. Thanks for the pit help offer.

Yes on the class 10 car. It is an older beam car with an ecotech in it. We raced it in the last SADR race and finished 2nd in class 10 and 4th overall.
As far as SADR - their races will be much longer with more varied terrain. Not knocking the Thunder Rock Ranch setup, but it is really short laps. The last SADR race was TWO 150 mile loops. If you want seat time, SADR has the most miles for the buck as far as a local promoter. Plus the course is sand, silt, hard packed road, rocky, whoops . . . Heck it will challenge you all day. You can run as a limited class PRO car and just work towards a finish. Great test to do R&D on your new class 11.
Longer laps let the classes stretch out and you don't have to worry too much about getting that rear bumper crushed in.

Welcome to the site. Is the car street legal? Bring it out to a get together some time. a Few people have towed the cars in before too.

Pepe is sorta street legal (barely- no speedo or turn signals) not sure if the DPS would agree! Chris and I are looking to get it out for some racing and some weekend runs around AZ.
