here's some recent updates...

adjusted front leaves.. too stiff for no weight.. notice the outer two narrow leave's not installed.. still seems safe and secure..!!

cleaned up and painted.. Cool

started on the re-wiring.. was just the large fuse block.. small is now solo constant hot.. ign. powers large block.. also notice i installed a grounding block..

fixed radio wiring and re designed sub box and installed..

still gonna do some more paint on the box.. just pondering idea's with the vw logo on the top...

It's looking good. You might wat to put short sections of torsion leaves in the three spots that hold them even on low riders the wide flat bars like to twist into the open spaces left by removing leaves.

thank you perrib.! im just havin a hard time picturing those leaves twisting inside the arms... they seem locked in so well... something would have to change shape for any play... ie. leaves rounding out or stripping out sorta speak, or the housing lips would have to round off or strip... there seems to be plenty of lip to avoid that..? again, i'm not the pro... lol... does anyone have any prior accidents with this theory?

Without the small leaf all the pressure is concentrated on the edges. It won't be anything that fails immediately. Eventually they twist or crack. If one set of leaves detachs the other set holds the suspension in. I hit something Sunday and broke the leaves where the grub screw holds them to the turkey leg. Off road I never noticed but the 40 mile ride home was real interesting as it would not track straight for much more than a couple hundred feet. I would of cut one of the torsions centers out and reclocked it. Once your offroading pounding the suspension with larger tires over obstacles the remaining leaves will lose tension sooner. It is the old saying pay me now or later.
