I know, its a lot of pipe, but the junk was cheap from China, yes Im a bad American! Parts from Aircraft Spruce I hope my wife doesnt discover! Aircraft = $$$$. Looks ugly but I needed the valves in the center so I could hook up push/pull linkage. If anything I had fun solving my problem!

That's NOT criticism...that's sound advice from someone whols been driving Bajas a VERY long time. Often (like now) without heat.

I've driven mine in -6*F without heat...Not a whole lot o fun! But part of the adventure. It took over 5 miles of driving to warm the gear oil enough to get it into 4th gear on the open highway. Bundling up can make it a real PITA to get in and drive in a Baja with a cage and competition belts. Interior heat can make things much more pleasant. Unless of course, you're just a fair weather Baja guy. This last winter, the coolest I drove it in was +15. Still not a whole lot o' giggles.

I just need to make some ducting accommodations to connect the heater boxes to the body ducts. The IRS arms get in the way of the duct inlets on the body. Part of the problem is where the brake lines got attached to the beefed arms.

I'm afraid to run air thru my heat ducts! No telling how many termites and chipmunks will come out. Good thing is I live in AL. Mid 20's is possible but rare.

We are desert rats. I'm cold when it is 50 outside. It does get 130 in the sun out here. In the winter I used to run down the highway with a real Mexican blanket to keep the chill off and that was with factory heat.

I miss it out there! Was stationed in Vegas for years. In LA (lower alabama) we have the heat here at 140% humidity in the summer and 100% in the winter, its either sticky sauna or cold and you still feel wet. But I just hate being land locked, im an original Florida boy, love the beach being so close. Only drawback is the only place you still find VW parts is out there!

I'm in the Mojave Desert of Sunny SoCal. High desert about 2750'. People from the other LA wonder how we can tolerate the heat here. I've seen 5 days straight above 120*. But then there was the day when it was 115 at our place and at my wife's work in the San Fernando Valley suburbs of LA it was 123*. It's actually quite cool here 1/2 of the year. I've seen 2' of snow here. Temp down to freezing a week ago and above 100 a couple days ago. Typical day is 40* difference from low to high. Landscaping is difficult with those extremes and humidity typically in single digits. But then a month ago we got got 4 years rainfall accumulation dumped in 20 minutes. In Arizona people are sensible about desert landscaping, but here most of the people work in LA and think they should have big lawns and plants which do well in LA. Then when they freeze or die of dryness and heat, they complain that the nurseries provide crappy plants. LOL

So ventilation is a good thing for the warm and heating for the cool. Maybe you can get away with no heat in L.A. (AL!)

I am in AZ so my cold is 50-60's.

I am gearing up to drive my baja to work every day through the winter and am putting some thought into how to keep myself and 8 year old daughter warm during the 15 mile commute. Anyone used the fan driven 12 volt space heaters? I saw a 12 volt electric blanket at Walmart.com.
