Keep the class 11, put a hitch on the soul and buy a small utility trailer.

Suck it up and buy a 20 year old Toyota with some offroad tires on 15" wheels. $2000-2,500 should cover it and then you can haul plenty.
Here's mine...and No...the tent is NOT in the bed. It was in the background.

as nice as the car is, i think you'd be an idiot to cut it up. put a hitch on the rear for a small trailer, or use that roof rack to its full potential. i've used my roof rack to haul all kinds of stuff, even on long trips from phoenix to tucson, as well as 120ft of tubing when i was building my roll cage.

That's what I'm saying. It's cool as it is and you just got it to where you can use it. Cutting it up now would be foolish. That would make sense with another car that's been rear-ended.

Why not just drag one of those little utility trailers with the bug on the rare occasion that you need to? If you're not talking about hauling concrete or gravel, it should be good enough, no?

Hate to see someone get all into their ride like this and then dump it without getting to enjoy it. I've owned mine for 3-4 years now, and still don't feel like I've gotten it to the place I intended it to be when I bought it....

The 20 year old Toyo is not a bad idea. I'm for a roof rack and/or a small trailer.

I have a 4x8 box trailer I used to tow with my baja. Only thing I would say is make sure you have some good brakes. other than that I never had a problem. My car does have a 2.3 For OHC in it so not sure how a VW motor would act as a tow engne.

I painted the bumpers and sidebars black today. I'll install them later and take a photo. I will pull the tank soon and have it boiled out. Hal's Radiator quoted me $65. The engine will get pulled and I'll take the transaxle back to Don's Busbox to check 4th gear before I run out of warranty. It's just been too hot to do anything to it.

Once you clean out the tank, wash it with Phosporic acid and paint it with POR gas tank paint. You won't have any more rust problems.
