bugzylla....i just realized something
^&*(......somebody removed top 4 torsion bars to keep the beam low.
ive had original beam, but trashed it while stressing about amount of junk in the garage-needen to put this project inside
... but that's why i felt that cony set screw cound not go between 2 top torsion leafes, because there suppose to be another one on top on each side , and the cony small set screw locks not between 2 leafes, but in the center of missing 1

i will drive to pennsilvania to out local junkyards to hopefully get them for cheap.

maybe i should convert to coilovers, any advantages, im on slightly modded 1640?

..yeah sorry guys for vocabulary, it was emotionally driven,
but def inappropriate.
ill catch up with AZbaja in couple of days i have to come out with new strategy for the front end, and will prolly continue with electrical. Im running whole new circuit trying solder rather than connect.

well, actually its like that, but with more automated height adjusters (i would later on design them so i can adjust them with no tools at all, if possible without even leaving the car) the roof cut, the whole body stretch to the sides (like in a post i saw here a long time ago, it was a white baja) some 15-20 cm would do the trick, a larger engine, if possible two vw bug engines connected together, (not shure if possible, but hey, its a dream), AC... DEFINATELY AC!, and a decent stereo with decent bass. oh, and lets not forget the good old 3x3s and the widend front end

my poor welding skills, but at least im starting to recognize how tig welder reacts to steel and more of the iron composite of conttrol arm.



do you guys think i can get away with these old bearing scars?

I would junk that arm and any others that have that sort of damage.

And honestly, you could probably MIG that stop on the arm better than those TIG welds. It would be good to preheat the arm if TIG welding it.

The location of those stops an the arms should be set by cycling the arms and spindles in the beam without the torsion leaves but using the shocks to show you where to limit the travel. I recommend KYB Gas-A-Just shocks.

Hey MojavieR and thanx for hint
The welder that i was using was a 110 flux mig.
I was thinking to adjust the stops afterwords by grinding in the catching part. When i was setting them up i had it n the beam, so it was somehow pre-assembled.
I still have not get the chance to mess with the whole front torsion set up, it has been almost as big hold down on the project for me, as rebuilding a whole top end of motor.
Nerveless thanks Mojavie and also Bugzylla for sticking in with me on this part, you guys have a library of knowledge, I saw lots of your posts here, and they were always pretty direct.
...and about this control arm, ill probably will get replacement.

I figure ill give a bump to this tread. Its been few weeks, fairly productive.
I've been working on my other car ive crashed, and its finished. By selling it ill hope to generate few dollars for this baja project.

..updates:
i've got in and outs for MSD ignition and exhaust

Have spend some time rewiring the bug. I have used 1/ gauge welding cable rated 600v, and i am making copper connectors out of 1/2 refrigerator tubing which makes perfect housing (refrig. tube is smaller dimeter than pluming cooper tube). I have worked out a jig for cramping cable out of tube flaring tool and a brill bit in the vise. Large crimps are expensive and this jig works magic.
The trick is to solder it after words which makes mechanical and soldered connection- ideal resistance to weather

go basis for 1600 single port turbo w/ garrett and inc
total damage 150 bucks
THIS IS BASIS FOR 2ND MOTOR
it is goins to be crazy


and thats the game plan
