Went to check out an odd oil leak in my 1776 yesterday. Leak seemed to be up under the fan shroud. Oil was coming out at every bolt and hole in the shroud. Thought maybe the doghouse oil cooler was leaking. Although if it were, I would expect the oil to be blown out the air outlet. After pulling the shroud, there was oil all over, but no definable source. So I covered the Kadrons and sprayed it with degreaser. Still can't find it. So I took the coil off the shroud and bungeed it to the bumper cage and ran a temp wire from the terminal strip on the firewall. Hooked the fuel lines back up. Then started it up. The source of leakage was immediately visible. It's a crack in the top of the case from the upper forward cylinder stud at cylinder #1. It runs upward at a 45 to just to the rear of the large case stud to the top corner of the case, then it angles back at a 45 about 2-1/2" toward the case seam. It's actually outside the fan shroud, but apparently when the engine is warmed up and I'm cruising at speed, oil gets sprayed into the fan intake and then all over. So now I need another case...and of course I'm broke. I have to fix SOMETHING! The Baja is my daily driver.

He decided he needed to have the Pertronix/MSD setup that came on my 1776 (hes my dad and he said it was his labor fee), and now that its installed, it runs like crap. We think its a defective box.

Cleaned grease off of trailing arms i am going to use on a LP setup. Great fun, but necessary in order to powdercoat them soon.

Cleaned and repacked all cv joints. Installed new boots. Cleaned and installed new spring plate bushing both inner and outer and reindect torsions.
Painted complete rear suspension after cleaning of the 40 year old grease.

The cv's are really a grease grimy mess. Glad that part of the rebuild is done.

Pulled the engine off so that it'd be easier to work on, got some self tapping 240mm head studs coming in the mail, hopefully that fixes the oil leak on the left head.

Race Trim seats and mounting brackets came in. Encountered a problem. With my 2" body lift the seats are too low. Built small risers to sit the seat on. Now the problem is the shifter is too low. I can't win. Haha.

Also bought 2 new rear tires. Goodyear Wranglers 31x10.5x15. Has some trouble with those as well as the rims I have are 2 piece and the center seam was leaking air so I had to clean up the joint and reseal the rim.

Having a tough time finding an aggressive looking tire in 235x75x15. Any suggestions?

Carpet kit, insulation, new master cylinder, cutting brake, new chrome engine tin, electric fuel pump, fuel regulator, Jaycee fuel pump block off plate, breather box kit, new crank pulley, DZUS fasteners for 1 piece hood all came in today. Gonna be a busy week.

Picked up my first of 2 baja's, this one, 65 with new rebuilt motor, (never started) roll cage( not installed) side brush bars (new uninstalled) baja kit installed front and rear cages, 2 poly racing seats without covers and 1 full pass. side floor (new uninstalled), it has been sitting in a storage shed for 2 or 3 years. I know it didn't happen if there aren't pics, i'll get them up tomorrow, by that time i'll hopefully have the second one 1969 without motor

I bought two lightly used high back poly jaz seats and covers for the buggy for less whip lash effect, i felt they were a good deal at $60 for the pair.

Now how do i mount them so i dont hit my head on the roll bar because they sit up a bit higher...?
