I haven't seen fresh photos of your car on here for a long time. What's it like these days?

Looks about the same just needs paint. The paint on the car was done around 93 or 94 time frame. Bugz thinks it can be buffed out as it was good paint and maybe just oxidized real bad.

Started doing the wireing on Project Willy Style, also started the rebuild on the pedals. Marked a couple things off the parts needed lists for all 4 cars, still no closer to having a running car though Sad

Bought a 1 piece fiberglass front end. Baja goes under the knife this weekend.

I wish someone gave good step by step instructions on what to cut up front with good pictures.

Cut front end down for new front end. Some test fit pictures.

Good job! You've retained the inner fender panels which will help keep caca out of the front and away from wiring, etc. 1st time I've ever seen anyone else do what I have done.

I have some rubber garage door seal to bolt to the fender holes so the lip will seal against the underside of the fenders. I hemmed the edge of the metal where I cut it to add strength and keep from getting cut. You can see the hem on the far side. I feel the rubber needs something to apply even force along the edge like a lip off an old fender or something.

Then I also intend to make a panel across in front of the gas tank to seal that opening off.

Now the downside to what you've done...
The doors will sag. You need to brace from the roll cage to the hinge area at the sides of the dash. In mine, the right door in particular tends to come unlatched just on the street. Strangely, it is far less likely to unlatch on dirt. Part of my problem is the 58 latches. It would probably be far less of a problem if the car had later style latches. But the doors will still sag when you open them.

For hinge and latches

Interior of the hinge is visible at the left. Hood pins are visible at the right in the rain channel with rubber seals.

There are also 1/4" thick neoprene rubber pads on the inside of the hood at the lower rear corners to prevent rattles. The rubber is glued on with weatherstrip adhesive and retained with a pair of 8-32 screws.

The welding of a brace to help door sag is smart. I'll do that. You are just extending a tab to the inside of the door area from your vertical roll cage bar or the one running horizontal under the dash?

Swapped out the blown Rancho front shocks for some fairly new KYB's, and put some air in the rear air shocks. They hold air with only a very slight leak. Also pulled the valve cover off the left head to start re-torqueing all of the bolts, only to find that 3 of the 4 bolts that are actually in with the valves are stripped down on the block itself..that would explain the oil leak, does anyone know how I could fix that? I also got down under the front end to see why the brakes are barely working (and that's with almost putting the peddle through the floor) and the only 2 things I can think it is, is that either the lines need to be bled, or it needs a new master cylinder. Any and all opinions and tips are welcome. =)

dont know what you mean about heat sinks,But it sounds to me(if your head bolts are striped in the case|) you need to put in some case savers, which is a threaded insert that goes into the case then the head bolts screw into them,This involves pulling both heads off ,maybe pulling jugs too,Not certain if you have to split case or not,,i think you can put them in with out splitting case but then you would get shavings of metal inside your case (not good)I would spit the case my self. ( WHAT SAY YOU PEEPS?)

Where can I get ahold of those and what's the price range? Sadly I'm on a budget =( Would it also be possible to use self tapping head bolts? (I think that's what they are)

I took my motor to Steve Norris at Norris racing in Milford, MI to breath some fresh life and get some more power out of it, i hope it doesn't break the bank to do so.

Plus this weekend going to yank my 4.37 type 1 switch over to a 4.12 and moving my super diff, hd forks and hd side cover over to the new trans too. This should be stonger set up and better handle the power of the new motor. I also hope the Taller gears give me more use, expecially out of first which currently is only a tractor gear.

Picked up a 400watt marine amplifier to replace my 240watt, now i hope to hear my music over the roar of the motor!

also, grabbed a used set of sand tires unlimited 1300 plus paddle tires on Douglas aluminum wheels for only $300. should make getting around the dunes and little faster!

I am trying to be ready for the spring and hit it hard!!!

I am looking for any other Michigan people to ride with this summer, PM me!
