Well I found out what that noise was...

On my way to the QT today I had a weird intermitant noise when I hit my brakes. So I did what any go Baja owner would, I looked for anything out of the norm, fuild, shiny pieces etc. and I kicked the tires (for luck Laughing )

I didn't find anything wrong and I just had to go off roading... so off I went.

Once in a while it would make a noise but it would still stop, no big deal.

So after we had our fun in the dirt, I was racing out of the Butcher Jones site, up the long hill toward the Bush Highway, just as I approched the stop sign, I hit my brakes, guess what happened...

Nothing!!!! Shocked

So I quickly pumped 'em up and found my self fighting the car from turning left!!!

The car stopped with a hidious noise and now rests at my dad's house. There is still no obvious leaks, but because of the need to punp the brakes and the pulling to the left, I believe the right caliper has leaked fluid all over the brake pads. Crying or Very sad

November is a great time to be in the VW parts buisness! Evil or Very Mad

Also look to see that your pads or not hitting together. on my car the vary top of the pad does not hit the disc so when it's worn out the 2 pads hit at the top and the breaks do not work that well or pull to one side.

on the good side the pad will never go metal to metal. Just pull the 2 pins and drop in a new set. Bug disc are so easy to work with.

Thanks Kev. I just found out that rebuild kits for the calipers are only $12ea and pads are about $30. Now I just need to get time to take it apart and see if that's it.

Wasn't the calipers or the pads. The axle nut on the drivers front was trying to jump off (it must have gotten scared when I was off roading Laughing )
Rotor hit the caliper, it, the bearings and pads need to be replaced. Oh well it's only money!!! I just wish I had some!!! Shocked

I finally found my upload cable for my GPS. SApparantly we never made it to cove #2. We were at cove #3! Shocked
