I agree with AZ, we need to do it for the love of the cars, not money for the clubs...

Putting on a show is not about making money, It does however cost alot of money to do. You only hope to recoup what money you put into the show.

Exactly. We do it for the love, but someone has to pay for it. And if one or a two have to pay for it, then they may only do it once or twice. Chirco foots the bill for their show, but they count on making sales both the day of the show and down the road.

So if we have sponsors to help pay for it, then we can charge a lesser entry fee and still break even, and be able to do it the following year. Cool

Guys the show/swap is back on for Feb 20th 2011 at Glendale Community college.............not sure whether we will call it Volksfest or copper fest or what. We also will be putting on a show there Nov 13 2011. GCC is the only place we could find where you can do a show and swap. Its a fantastic venue. Its me Tom , the guy who put the Karls show on for all those years and Volksfest with D3 last year. I was shocked when I heard D3 canceled Volksfest..........and so was GCC who thought the show was going on this week.....they are a little bitter to say the least. When I heard Copperstate was done I put my money where my heart lies............we have to have a show and swap in this town that doesnt charge 20 bucks admission. Spectator Admisson will be free as always. We just made our money back last year and with your support we will be sucessfull this coming year
thanks
Tom

Here was the idea-

Im in the mens aux of the vfw#1433-

we had a meeting the other day where we found out bingo was being cancelled and they were looking for ideas for something to replace it.. that means sunday is now open..

The post has approx 100 spaces in its main lot with overflow parking in 3 other places. They have restrooms and handicap access. If it was a swap meet or car show it would charge like 10.00 a space. it is also a functioning cantina -read bar- where smoking is allowed indoors if that is your thing. They would sell refreshments too.

For them they get the money from spots and refreshments, and exposure that sometimes leads to new members.

thats hte general idea anyway- another member is involved with motorcycles and will bring it up to some local groups. Would need some notice to allow approval but I think it could be done easily.

let me know what yall think...

Sounds like an idea. We just do not have the money to pay for somthing as large as Copper State and evan if we did we do no have the amount of people to run an large event (I do not think we do).

I would like to see cars that enter and stay for the entire show get some money back. lets say you pay $10 to show and if your car is still in it's spot at the end you get $5 back. I also would like a way to get some peoples cars out of the parking lot. The last few times I have gone to a BOR there was a better show in the parking lot. So maybe if you have a VW type car you can park up front next to the show car area.

I would not feel at all bad if we tied into with a Off-Road,Muscle Car, Motor Cycle show as part of ours. Good way to double the size and get more people.

The good idea with the vfw- it costs nothing
The bad idea with the vfw- they get proceeds-
----BUT---- war veterans getting the proceeds for their non-profit doesnt bother me any...
