Exactly as the title says, has anyone ever used the precut sound pads from chirco? Just wondering how much they actually help? I'm also getting some vibration damper from secondskinaudio.com and that place has the under carpet sound killer as well, just wondering what you guys think about these? the precut idea sure is nice....

So should I try em?

Go with second skin's stuff, its high quality and the owner is really nice. I've bought it several times in the past for friends and previous vehicles. Never had an issue.. If you really want to deaden the sound and vibrations some, use it all over the pan. Double up on the back wall(4 layers) to help deaden engine drone.

Be sure to clean whatever you are using it on very VERY well. Its extremely sticky stuff, but cleaning it is still paramount. I use little rollers to press it down, and work in small sections. I generally would cut out about 2 or 3 feet sections and apply it.

As far as it holding water in.. well its a risk. If you have moisture in the interior(as in rivers flooding in) it will hold the water there. You might want to go as far as herculining the floor then using second skin... if you wanted to go crazy on it.

And post some pics if you do it. I don't know why, but floors look bad ass in shiny silver. Smile

haha, yea i know alot about the second skin stuff... ( I do stereo installations, and use that stuff....) so I know the second skin works... and I'm not worried about water, becaue its AZ, and my pan is rust-stop painted... If I'm going through a water hole where the water comes in, I'm more worried about sinking...

Very few places one might sink in Arizona. I'd say have at it. The chirco stuff is likely very similar to the rest of dynomat's lower end products. Less butyl, more asphalt.

exactly, as long as my pan is prepped fine I'm not worried... I was just wondering how this product compares to something like dynamat, or secondskin... for the sole purpose that it's pre-cut..
