Well, dad's been in Texas off and on since April, so it still doesn't run, but i've been doing what i can with everything else. (Sanding, Cleaning, etc.) Putting the first coat of Primer on it today, gonna start painting later this week hopefully (Rattle canning it Flat Tan). I'll put some pics up for you guys in a bit.

Sorry pic is from my phone so it will be slightly blurry. I'll have more up this week when its painted.

UPDATE- Bought a 1776 for it today, and a baja kit (this nosebowl and fenders are a little beat). Decided to take it to Maaco next week for a quick simple paint job as the flat tan wasn't turning out to Ryan's liking.

Soooo, after the paint shop we'll hang the motor and do some detail work on the wheel wells, etc. and then hopefully it'll be on the road again within the next week or two.

Nope. Are they hard to find or something? I'd better keep an eye on mine then- make sure junior doesn't hep hisself to mine! Laughing

I'm sure Dougs or Chirco has one in stock. Just a suggestion to get one before you install the engine. You'd better wet sand all the hard spost with 500 grit and a block because Macco's not going to do it. Thats the trick to a cheap Macco paint job wet sand all the orange peel off yourself and show them that it was done. Then it should look good for a year or two.

Well its been a while since i updated, so i figured tonight is as good as any to do just that Smile

Me and the Pops have been putting quite a few hours into this thing this week, rain or shine. Mainly in sanding, and a little body work.

Started off flat tan. Then i decided i didn't like it Embarassed

Then came the sanding...

For a little while, we thought we were going to spray paint it white.. Thankfully that only lasted long enough for us to shoot the fenders Rolling Eyes

Messin around with the paint (hence the number 53) lol, and trying the roof rack that my dad aquired from 57 Baja Smile its been sitting two years, so ive claimed it Laughing

And thennn we actually got to work.

Painted my drums

Then we got a 7 piece kit from 62baja.

And then came the rippin and the tearin on my frame for the new nosebowl Very Happy

Finally got it mounted

And then sanded the whole car with 320 grit, and filler primed it. Now we just need to use my 600 grit and we should be ready for paint Smile

Mounted the BFGs up front, looks like i have enough turning space before rub to daily drive this thing without a cut and turn. (Of course i'll need it to off road, but this may mean i dont have to bum my parents blazer for school Cool )

Heres the front at full turn

Well that's all i have for now, my dad is trying to contact a guy on here about paint, but we may do it ourselves, with a spray gun. Were amateurs when it comes to this so any tips from someone whos painted their own bug this way is appreciated! Cool

Thanks to everyone who has helped us out this far, and thanks for the comments, helps keep me motivated when i go out there and sand for endless hours Razz

Are Zeniths a pretty decent/reliable carb? The rumor is that the guy "spent all kinds of $$$ on the motor." Doesn't look too fancy on the outside, but if it were bored some, how much displacement could a Zenith handle, hypothetically speaking?

It looks to be full flowed so thats an advantage, as far as how big of a motor Zeniths can run, I don't know how high but I have a buddy that runs a full flowed 1835 with a zenith and he hasn't had any issues
