I think you hit the nail on the head AzBaja. That was the first thing that I felt as well, just no flow. Hopefully I have some time this weekend to make some mods to it. Will try to get some pics up as soon as I can.

Here is my suggestion, leave the back of it open and do this style of wing.

Decided to lay off of the rear wing for a bit......see if I can get some creative inspiration. So far it's not working. In the mean time, I got the front frame and bumper back from the powder coater and got them put back on the car. They turned out really good. After all this work it feels really good to have some pieces that are done and will stay on the car. I couldn't resist trying out the lights and taking a shot of the front. A nice big set of Hellas backed up by a set of lazer stars under the bumper. Regardless of how the back ends up looking, the front looks AWESOME!

Well, it's been a busy summer for the BajaGhia, mostly focused on the body work. I had the doors sent in and sandblasted to get rid of all the old layers of paint and bondo, spent most of a Saturday sanding/grinding the rest of the car to get rid of the laquer paint that was everywhere, and started in on getting the body as smooth as I can. My Dad came down a couple weeks ago and brought his stud gun to help with some of the dents that I couldn't get as well as offer several good tips on overall bodywork.

So, after another couple weeks and a LOT of sweat, I hate sanding, I've got most of the body looking pretty straight.

I also decided to do something different for the rear fenders. I went to see a guy about building the rear cover, and after talking to him and coming up with a design for that, I decided that the fenders that I had would not look very good. so am going to have him build some fenders too. Going to cost me, but should be worth it in the long run.

Started work on the fiberglass front end this week. First was to reinforce and cut in the opening for the fuel cell. Still think I will back it up a little more along the ridge of the front, but have the cuts made and think it will look pretty good.

I also trimmed out the fenders an extra 2" for some added wheel clearance, and am happy with the results. In the process I also trimmed the bottom front.

So, here is the goal; body work in August, Paint, Interior, and Seals in September, and Mechanics in October. Shooting for a debut at the Dunes on Halloween. On schedule so far!

I was going to do a center fuel filler on my baja but I was told by an old timmer that your arm will get sore with the reach. Maybe you should put it a little closer to the side of the car...

I would try to keep it no more than and elbows lenght from the side of the car...

LOL! Keep it clean! Family site remember. Actually the reach to the center is not too bad. I like the alignment better than off to the side. Talked to a guy today about having the underside of the front end sprayed with Line X. Anybody else do this? Thought it might add some support for the fiberglass.

My Tunes came in yesterday! Still probably will get an amp to go with it, but needed these to get in so I can fit the deck in the dash and the speakers in the side panels.

Got the hole in the dash cut for the deck, then decided to find a spot for the Ghia Dash Script. Think this turned out pretty good. Hard to see in the pics, but looks good.

yeah you'll definitely want an amp to help power all that. I run my 5 1/4s off directly from the deck and then i run an amp for the 6x9s and an amp for a single 12 inch sub. you can do one amp though, i only run two because mine are small (200 watts a piece)

looks great though. Smile

Thanks JW. I'm sure I will end up with the amp. I like my tunes, and usually like them loud!

Was a pretty productive weekend on the Ghia. I removed the shocks so that I could finish welding up the last spot on the roll cage. I know, the logic sounds wierd, but the last joint was right next to the upper shock mount, so wanted in out of the way. Then I finished the last couple welded connections and the last tabs, and got the cage painted. Looks really nice. Also patched in a rusted out section of the lower heat duck channel on the left side. Been putting this off not sure of how to fix it. A replacement piece is a couple hundred dollars, and in the end, it gets covered up by the carpet. So, I used a fiberglass patch, and was pretty happy with the results. Will take it in to get the rear cover made next week, then down to BajaWarrior for paint and interior. Sorry no pics. Will get some after the rear cover is made.

Well, got the Ghia out of the garage yesterday and dropped it off at Aluma-Art for some panel work. I'm stoked, cause this guy does some AMAZING work. Having him do the rear cover, some fenders, and a center console. I think we came up with a pretty good design for the rear cover. Should have it back in about a week, so will post some pics. Was really cool to get it out and show it to the guys at work. It definately gets some looks on the road. I guess I haven't mentioned it here yet, but I decided to stay with the VW motor instead of the Subaru, at least for now. It was going to run me an additional 8k to do the Subie by the time I upgraded the trans and all, plus, I have a good strong 2234 sitting in the garage. So, talked to Don about a 002 trans, and will go that route. Still doing the power steering, and may upgrade the motor to a turbo in the near future, but this gets me going. Have a trip to Glamis planned for Halloween, so the pressure is on.

Looking good!

I have a couple questions about the radiator- what kind is it? where'd you get it? and HOW do you fill it laying on it's side like that?

Back to the wing- an acquaintance of mine (R.I.P. Dave B.) built a shweeet rail. When he fabbed up his wing, he integrated a foam-lined cooler compartment in the wing, with cut foam to hold individual cans/bottles, and a drain out the bottom for melting ice. Thought it was a bitchin' idea.
