originally i was going to build one but i knew from the get go i didn't want any extra holes in the roof, nor did i want to weld it on. so i figured a modified stock one is gonna be the way to go for me. My car is fairly simple too, no 3x3s or coil overs, just standard width and pretty straight-forward.

the car looks like its coming along very nicely.

on a second note, i've never seen a oil filter literally blow up but i have seen one expand until the point where the rubber gasket eventually blew out, spewing oil everywhere.

well as this car has progressed i keep changing my mind and decided the right thing to do was drill and tap rather than the in out pump...

so i drilled and tapped the case tonight for the full flow setup all went well i used a shop vac to suck any metal that went the wrong way out tomorrow i will yank the oil pump and plug it so i can get the right cover on Monday i think i will be running some oil through the block before i bolt it all together!

i have heard of people blowing up filters.... never seen it done. but that ph8a is a filter i had already so im going to use that for now. i plan to run a wix racing filter (much much more filtering capability than the fram comparable units)

when you say your running the same full flow system your running a "in & out" pump?

I have found theat the FORD FL1A filter is a works well too.

knocked off the list recently: shiftbox, shifter, clutch cable, throttle cable hood mounting. brakes and finishing the shift linkage are next week!

well i spent all day today working on brakes got the tabs made for the flex lines, started bending up the hard lines, welded up the tabs for the flex lines mounted the hard lines to the flex lines, filled the system with brake fluid started to bled the system and it leaks like a sprinkler all over the place Ive tried tightening the lines and it leaks anyways. so as of today i have a baja with brake lines that leaks.... probably give it another shot on stopping the leak tomorrow! No! No! No! No!!!!

got the leaks sorter out (for now) had to re-flare one of there flares... awesome craftsman ship. but the Rf wheel cylinder wont bleed its clogged internally so time to toss on the extra backing plates i have and the studded drums and get the front half bled.

well i got the studded drums and other backing plates on the car today bled the system i now have a rake pedal its not great but its there..... went to put the wheels on its awesome having studs to put the wheels on! tightened 9 of the 10 lug-nuts went to tighten the last nut it snugs up then the whole stud spins freely! im starting to think this bug has it in for me! Ive worked on the car every day and every day its presented me with a different problem.... so tomorrow i gotta pull that drum again. hopefully i wont kill the bearings like i did on the old drums so i don't have to replace a bearing too! needless to say im not having a good baja week!

well rather than pulling that drum today i bled the brakes again and welded up my shift linkage! i needed to get some momentum! Twisted Evil

Twisted Evil and i got it! then the car even stopped! ive been jazzed all afternoon the car drives out and back and stops even!

the bad:
my shifters lockout isnt working and first gear is hard to find... its a empi trigger shifter i bought new

i need to adjust the brakes, only one wheel locks up.

gotta check the trans fluid, i can hear the gears might be the huge hole in the floor though.

i broke my drop light, it was magnetized to the car and i forgot about it, when it broke it bent my air cleaner and swung by the wife and my father which took the yay it moved to wtf were you thinking! i fixed the light (mostly) and everyone's okay so it could of been alot worse

Shocked the socal bajas meetings Tuesday and what made me really happy was my wife brought it up asking if i could have the car street legal and ready by then. i said no but maybe by next month! Laughing
