i've heard most ppl say sheet metal screws and washers maybe some type of sealent or glue with it just my two cents

Check out my post from l2008.

Rear air scoop

Explains how to install w/o screwing to the body but I did use stainless hardware at lower corners that go through where the rear fenders attach.

Nut Serts or Dzus fasteners work the best but screws are the typical method.

I used button head stainless screws and finish washers and it looks pretty good.

I agree, we usually use nut serts. If you cant afford the high dollar kit, harbor freight has one that will work OK for a little while.
