So I've been working on a custom set of carbs for a buddy off mine in SoCal. I swapped out the venturis with larger ones, re-jetted it for 1835 with 110 cam, and have been working on a couple of designs for flow improvement for the larger displacement, and venting the float bowls, similar to what some of the off-road guys have been doing to prevent flooding in the really rough stuff.

The goal was to get the bracket for the air cleaner mount out and away from the carburetor throat, where it restricts the flow. After looking at one guy's goofy idea of sending all-thead up through the air cleaners, and taping up the existing hole, I thought I could do better. I modified the existing bracket a bit, added steel tubing and stainless screws to effectively shim the bracket upward. Then, after thinking about a photo dustymojave had posted about a year ago, and again thinking about the way I've seen other off-roaders do it, I decided I'd use steel tubing, and weld it to my air cleaner bracket.

It came out pretty sweet, I think. I'm going to start offering it as an option on my future Kadron kits:

Thanks perrib. Obviously, I had to shorten the stock air cleaner mounting rod and die new threads on it. I also added a wingnut with a flat washer to it, and a rubber seal. The flat washer on the bottom side of the wing nut has a groove cut in it for an o-ring, so I'll probably go that route in the future. Here's another photo (bad lighting) of just the "Hi-Flo" mod with the new wing nut. and seal:

Nope The tube is a prefect fit. It's 5/16" ID steel tubing.

I know I've shipped at least two so far to AzBaja guys. Caversmoon was one. I can't remember who else got a set. Lots of SoCal guys are using them. They work really well!

Actually, I must say, I "borrowed" the idea from Richard. I redesigned it, improved it, and mated it to my Hi-Flo kit.
