Picked this up from a friend yesterday. He bought it recently at an estate auction. It's titled as a '64, but it's balljoint front and IRS rear, so I'm not gonna worry about how that works! Confused It seems to be a VERY clean little car, although it's not running currently. Previous owner was driving it as recently as November I'm told. Motor turns over freely. My plan is to drain fuel and replace, do an oil and filter change, and try to light her off. I'll probably pull the valve covers and take a quick look at the valve clearances before starting it as well. Planning to use it strictly off-road for the time being, since junior (Ryan) can't afford to insure/license a second vehicle- this one was just purchased to give him something to play with offroad.

Also planning a rattlecan paint job of some sort. Haven't decided on a color or anything yet.

I dunno if he'll join the site and post his progress or if I'll keep doing it. Cool

More to come!

ANYONE KNOW WHAT KIND OF CARB THAT IS?

Are Zeniths a pretty decent/reliable carb? The rumor is that the guy "spent all kinds of $$$ on the motor." Doesn't look too fancy on the outside, but if it were bored some, how much displacement could a Zenith handle, hypothetically speaking?

Welcome to the forum. Zeniths were/are run on engines from 1600-2180. They need preheat to work.

Well, it found its way into the garage. Battery charger is on it now. We'll see if it'll run by Monday... Logan was present to supervise the operation. Laughing

Well the Marvel Mystery Oil helped because the engine is not seized. Very Happy

The spark plugs were out so it wouldn't start but we hit the ignition and it cranked Razz

Not sure if she'll run quite yet but i'll keep ya posted.

You want to crank it with the plugs out to blow out as much crude as possible rather than recycling it .

Did that last night, and it spun freely. Battery is crapola though, and I need to pick up a set of plugs today to start getting serious about trying to start it. We'll see! Bummer I have to go out of town this weekend so I won't get to spend time tinkering with it.
