So here I sit. Stuck on the side of the road with an engine that started making noise and lost power. It was just rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. It is cranking over slow and won't fire. It is full of oil, so wtf? My wife is ready to kill me for sinking so much money into something that won't run more than a couple days at a time. I'm pretty frustrated with it as well. I want an Ecotec, but I don't have the money to be doing that until summer is over. This thing is supposed to be my daily driver.

check the tach wire. disconnect the wire from the coil and see what it does. my car has done stuff like this before. It will be going fine and then all of a sudden, nothing. unplug the wire and it fires right up.

How was the oil pressure and oil temp? Tachs have been known to cause ignition problems.

Temp was less than 140. I still need to replace the pressure gauge.

If disconnecting the tach does not cure the slow cranking, you may have lost oil pressure and the engine did a slow sieze.

Is the tach on the + or - of the coil? We just full flowed it. Hopefully it wasn't that.

Tach is on the negative. Just as in just did it and in 10 miles later it quit?

I was driving to work and it suddenly just quit. I tried pushing on the gas and it just wouldn't go. I coasted off the side of the road. It acted just like when my fuel pump wire came off. Except that isn't what happened as the fuel pump is still connected and working.

Like I said if it is not the tach, suspect a slow seize from low oil pressure.

What is a slow seize? It still cranks over.

You said it cranks over slowly like it is partially seized.

What about doing the full flow would give it low oil pressure?

Not setting the clearance between the oil pump gears and cover. Too much clearance results in decent cold oil pressure and very low pressure when the engine warms. If your engine is cranking over at normal engine speed this is not the problem.
