Looks like a nice solid ride. I'd consider some hose clamps on those fuel lines, both at the pump and the fuel filter. Might want to consider relocating the fuel filter so you have a straight run of fuel line anywhere near the engine, as connections are most likely to leak, and fuel leaks near the engine are what makes ACVW's notorious for roadside barbecue events.

That's my .02.

On second thought, if you don't know the age of your fuel lines, it's not a bad idea to just bite the bullet and replace them all with new when you procure a car. Sometimes fuel line that looks good externally can be deteriorating inside and contaminating your carb with small black rubber flakes, etc.

thanks for the tip, are fuel lines stainless braided or should are there certain fuel lines I should look into or certain ones I should avoid? And at some point I plan on putting a new exhaust on their and maybe a higher air flow filter. I did the math and the new engine has about 350-500 miles on it. Probably not the cheapest baja bug ever but I bought it from a reputable vw shop that did all of the engine work and is nearby so I didnt mind paying a little more for it.

and is that oil splatter coming out where the exhaust header meets the muffler? Something I should be concerned with?

If and when you replace the exhaust system it might go away. Possible you need to replace a gasket there. Replace the wooden door panels with aluminum ones. Redo the rear wooden speaker enclosures, maybe try and match the carpet already there. Overall looks pretty damn good!

Thanks for the pics.

Question: what's that port coming off the intake that is plugged with the bolt? Don't believe I've seen that before. Smog?

smog would be a good guess, this is a mexican engine so it might have a few little differences. And yes replacing those "custom" door panels is on the list of things today. I need to take some pictures of under the hood to get some ideas of what it should look like because right now there is a strong breeze blowing in through it.

awesome!

I believe that bolt on the intake is for a vacuum advance distributer, which you don't have, hence the bolt haha

Nothing really majorley wrong with it, just a few fixer things.

Definitely replace fuel lines and relocate the filter. Mine is down behind the engine where the line comes out of the pan, just for a suggestion. I also run a metal one from Autozone. I dunno, something about thin plastic with fuel behind it near my hot engine just doesn't sound safe lol

replace that exhaust with a nice U-bend baja exhaust and you'll be good to go!

it's a cool lookin bug! Cool

Yeah I was going to put one of those u-bends on there, any suggestions or recommendations as far as air filters go? Something with a little higher flow to go with the exhaust?
And I will be making a trip to advance auto monday to try and get some new fuel line to relocate. Will I be able to get to everything I need to without jacking the car up? Thanks

Depending on how much it rains there one of these would be good

You shouldn't need to jack up the car if it's already a Baja to get the fuel line replaced
