The shop you charge to build your front end will generally set up the brakes and steering etc. So yes, you will need steering and brake hose changes. Along with a lot of work for the a arms.

Here's a bolt on A-arm kit that comes with everything and gets you 6" wider and 12+ inches of travel

I dunno- if I'm gonna cough up 3k for a-arms, I want quite a bit more than 12" of travel! I'm just sayin... Wink

But they are a arms. Very Happy I agree $3000 would buy Wood's 4" longer arms, combo spindles and coil overs.

Unless you are going to fab the a-arms yourself and figure out all the neccessary angles for a good handling car, then you are going to pay more than $3k for a shop to do it for you. You also don't want to use a shop that just does sand cars, because they typically don't have "correct" suspension geometry for a car actually used on the road and dirt. Sand is a different animal and more forgiving for crappy suspension design. My other question is have you ever riden in a car with an actual "good" 12 inches of travel? A lot of people will also say they have more than they do to sound impressive.

that a-arm.com kit looks pretty rad. alot of cash to drop on the bug though. maybe just a wider beam for now to match width with the rear

I have around 10" or more with the coil over and heavy duty trailing arms on my Baja. Works just fine. You can always spend more money but the way that the VW supension folds back is a great when goin forwared. reverse it's not so good, that is what A-Arms have over the VW trailing arms works the same forward or reveres. But I bet you spend more time in 1 of the 4 forward gears than you do in the 1 gear with the R...

Do not recall, but I'm sure you can get a set at chircos.

You will have to extend your front end to use them. So if your building a cage it would be a great idea to have them. if not then work with what you have. if you do not break it do not fix it Smile

Traling Arms 2 1/2 Longer, Coil Over Front , Set Of 4 [CPR405148] $259

Besides Chirco, Bugzilla makes them. I got mine from Woods Wheel Works. Fodrills makes them. In Ca. you have Tweeds Designs.
