Im actually in the process of putting one in. I can't spit out any numbers at the moment but the gearing is lower giving more torque and the bus transmission is just generally stronger and beefier than the bug one. If you can go that route, it's a good way to go. I will try to find one of my charts that has a breakdown of the gearing by transmission type.

BUG Trans use the same gearset (1st thru 4th) as the 3 rib and 5 rib BUS however they only have a 6" ring gear (the weak link). The BUS Trans is preferred because it has a 8" ring gear AND lower ring and pinions. Bug trans used 4.37, 4.13 and 3.88 ratios while the 3 rib has a 5.38 and the 5 rib a 4.86. The 091 uses a 4.57 and everything is biggger inside. VW kept the gear ratios the same but made higher ring and pinions as they added power over the years.
