Finally finished the paint. There are a couple of oversprayed bits on the window rubber, but all & all I think it turned out excellent, considering it was rattle canned!!! Here's some before and after pics...

Yes I'm too lazy to take off the gauges & knobs. That green (frog) tape works wonders. For the floors, I'll be rolling some bedliner material, so I just primed the floor panels for now. I noticed in the photos that the paint has a yellow tint. It's gloss white, but picture was taken with my iphone, so not enough light I guess. Not as shiny as the exterior, but it'll be fine for my little baja. It's a shame I have to throw my old seats back in until I can find something better for cheap.

Thats what I'm doing! I have the decals made up in my computer, waiting for paint to filly cure bfore printing and applying. I'm also gonna add details like an antenna in the back, and a giant on/off switch, to make it appear like an r/c car.

Here's a pic of the mounted lights. The fronts still need the beauty rings, but that can wait.

I'm working on the floors now, applying roll-on/brush-on bedliner material. In case your interested, it takes approximately 1 quart for three coats for a type one floor. The rubber floor mats will be snap buttoned in place for easy cleaning, and to keep them from moving around. More pics coming soon.

She is really coming together man! Very nice. Can't wait to see your giant on/off switch! HAHA! Very cool idea.

It'd be funny if you made it functional. (I wouldn't though Wink )

Maybe it could just be a big battery disconnect somehow? Haha!

Not a bad idea! Actually, it was just going to be the top of my rear mounted tool box. The original remote control cars had the switch located behind the rear seat, but I guess I could put it anywhere. I have a nice 10 foot cb antenna that'll be mounted on the rear cage as well.

Worked on her some more this weekend. Finished the door rubber and scrapers, mounted the panels, and fixed the vent window latches. Yes, I added plastic sheet between the panels and door frame! Rolling Eyes

Then I got around to mounting the stainless trim. Some of the holes were still in the body, so I opted to use clips and rubber grommets for those. The other 3 pieces were mounted using 3m trim tape, built up inside the moulding. Im interested to see which one holds up off-road the best.

As you can see, I also pinstriped the bug. It hides some imperfections from the paint shop, and looks good to boot!

Next week I plan to mount the side brush guards, and possibly re-upholster the seats. Check back next week! Very Happy

18 years....

Mostly done was about 2 years... then extras took about 5 to 10 years. The baja was also my daily driver for 12+ years. After I got a wife I started to drive the other cars...you know heat & A/C will spoil you
