Rear centerline rims (2 piece) are leaking badly between pieces.. one has to be filled daily.. tires are new and couldnt find any major leaks around bead but big bubbles between plates... and remedy for this or reccommendations for a differrent basic rim?

rims are 15 x 9 (ish) and wide 5 pattern...

-Brett

If you can break the bead, I've heard of people siliconing the split between the two pieces. Might be worth having them dismounted for a day or two, even if it means two trips to Discount...

If you apply the sealant sparingly, it shouldn't even affect the balance. But, since you're dismounting them anyway, having them balanced would probably be advisable.

I don't think "Slime" or any of that Fix-a-Flat crap will work, as centrifugal force keeps it smeared all over the inside of the tires, not around the rim.

I used a fix a flat kinda stuff and it worked fine for me. I kept getting flats on the low profile tires on my lowered 1303. I sprayed the stuff in and it worked well. You have to drive slow for about 15 km it says on the spraycan and I think that is important. It doesn't cost much so you could try.

Brett, centerline wheels are two piece, they have silicone sealent from factory and after off road use they can start to leak. You will need to cut out the old silicone clean thouroughly with brake cleaner and re silicone. let it dry for atleast 24hrs before putting tires back on. I have had to do this on other wheels for years. any problems just call.

Centerlines a re a rebuildable wheel. It splits in the middle. We used to use bathtub silcon to seal them on the drag car. Did it in 2 pass per rim. 1 small bead about 1/8" wide to fill deep into the grove. Then after that drys for 12 to 24 hours a 2nd fat bead was smoothed over the 1st one.

If the silicone doesn't work, run a tube. Ne reason to ditch the centerlines.

Here's a question. What's the benefit of a two piece rim?

Kyle

Centerlines are made from 2 flat spun aluminum disc that are di stamped into the shape of half a rim. Both half are riveted together to get a whole rim.

Real stong and light. If you bend one it can be taken apart and restamped into shape.

Also cheaper to manufacture with numerous combinations of backspacing/wheel width. Think mix and match.
