Howdy perrib if a sand rail is street legal does it still need the OHV tag for off roading on state land roads? And some of those fines are steep the event one wow. I mean if ten guys in rails and bajas happen to meet up in the middle of nowhere is that now a event? What exactly makes a event?

Heck by the time I get my rail on the road I won't be able to drive it anywhere.

Now I am old but I used to take off in Phx. from Bell road and ride the canals off shea before they ever had any water in them. Made for some really nice jumps. We could run to the lakes or river from anywhere and just go all out. The crowds that would gather riding bikes buggys and jeeps every weekend hundreds of people just having fun. Man those were the days.

Yes they were. You could drive up to the Salt River. As the day went on the 4x4s would be six rows deep at the bridge. We could also dove hunt on Bogle Farm at Dobson and Ocotillo.

If you have a regular passenger car plate you do not neeed an OHV sticker. Motorcycle and RV plates need the OHV sticker. Any vehicle will need a Tonto Use Pass to go to park at any of the lakes on the Salt and Verde, improved picnic ,camping and parking sites along the rivers. Sycamore Creek, Upper Sycamore, Four Peaks and the Rolls do not reguire a Tonto Pass. It is also a good idea to get a State Trust Lands permit. You can travel on roads that pass through State Trust land but cannot stop on them without one. Simple right? get a pass, tow your ride to the Middle Gila staging area. Park the truck and trailer and go riding. Now you return and find a ticket on the truck. Surprise. Each vehicle needs a mirror tag. Of course you had it in one for the Baja. One pass is good for two adults and two children but you have to ask for engough mirror tags for all the vehicles.

perrib - are you running a spark arrestor on your rail at all times just in case? I didn't know if it was practical to run one on the street or if people are having to switch out.

I have been running a super trap on my baja for years with out a problem. Granted my car does have a 2.3 Ford in it. But still no problem with it.

I've had a Super Trap for many years on both my 2180 and 1835. Now I have a muffler for the 2180. I haver the full size plate and don't need a spark arrester like the RV and MC plated vehicles have to but there is an excessive decibel fine for any vehicle.

I don't know if it has changed but several years ago we were stopped on State Trust Land by AZGF. They said we were allowed to hunt on Trust Land as long as we had a valid AZ hunting license. We were in a truck not an off road vehicle though.

That question came up at a AZ OHV Ambassador meeting. If you get stopped you better have the correct, permit firearm and related equipment for what your supposed to be hunting.

So, if you're hunting with a valid AZ hunting license your ok?

Or do you also have to have a recreational permit?

Just want to be clear (don't want to get busted either).
