Building my first baja from the pan up. Just installed the new warrior beam went, 6 inches wider with 10 inch coil over towers. Wow! didnt know the shock towers wold be so tall! Will be using a one piece front end. Will I need to go with a body lift to have enough clearence? Thanks

i dont think he was talking about the front end.

rgc,

it depends on what size tire your going to be running. i have a 3" body lift on my baja and clear 34" swampers no problem. high mount rear fenders were needed to get the travel desired but they look cooler anyway.

if your going to put a 30-32" tire than i wouldnt think you will need one. the body lift does alot for it though. doesnt give you anymore ground clearance though.

what kind of suspension and tires are you looking to do with your car. sounds nice already!

I haven't really decided on tire size yet. I know it will either be 31's or 32's. I was however talking about the front end, I am hoping to get 10 to 12 inches of travel out of the front end. What I was concerned about was the clearence between the top of the shock tower and the one piece front end I plan to put on. Right now the body is off the car, I am real close to putting it back on but wasn't sure if I needed a body lift. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

A body lift will help several things: Obviously there will be more room for tires and the likes. If you're tall, it gives you more room inside (I'm 6'4"). One thing that you might not realize is that it actually strengthens the car and makes it twist less when off-roading. This helps reduce body fatigue and cracking, and actually makes the car feel tighter when you drive it. You really notice the lack of flexing of the body between the roll cage and the windshield pillars, for instance. The lift will also give you more room above the trans and engine areas for things like oil coolers, etc.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Get a beefy one, though.

Maybe hit up Bugzyla. He makes good stuff.

Like 57 said get a good body lift, the cheap $200 models you find most places are made from bent sheet metal and they will allow the body bolts to come loose after you bounce the car around a little. The Bugzyla lifts we build are 3" x 1.5" .065 wall rectangular tubing and will stiffen the car from body flex as well.

Seeing is believeing

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be installing the body lift. So Bugzyla, what am I looking at as far as price + shipping to california? One last thing, I appreciate the professionalism that those of us with little or no baja experience receive from the more experienced indivduals on this site. Thank You
