This was in another thread. I didn't want to de-rail that thread, so I posted it here.

fabinc wrote:
Everyone should be very leary of this guy and doing business with him.
Not very trustworthy ! ! !

Just a warning to all.

Who specifically were you referring to? Making a statement like this, I think it would be prudent to explain with specific examples of what makes this person or business untrustworthy, and why everyone should be "leary" and "warned".

When someone makes a strong statement like that, my personal perception is that the person brining the accusations to the group is putting their own integrity on the line, too. We would certainly all benefit from knowing if there is a wolf in our presence, and we would all benefit from knowing who that wolf is.

Can you explain your previous statement?

Thanks dude.

BTW... I'm not coming at you at all. I just want clarification for all of us.

Thanks again!

I was actually hoping for an answer on this thread so we could all get this aired out. I have nothing personal against anyone on this site, but certainly have opinions, perceptions, and suggestions when asked. Of course, I'm here in SoCal and not in AZ, but people frequently ask for my referrals, and I always direct them toward people with whom I'm familiar, and who have proven themselves to be beneficial to the VW and/or off-road community.

As someone who runs a business also, I'm all for supporting the "Little Guy", the "Underdog", and "Buying American". I understand the importance of "Service", and that "Price isn't always everything". I support honest people who make a fair living, delivering a quality product, and who care for their customers, caring for them as if they were family.

I think my beliefs are shared by many who hang out here.

I also shy away from supporting those who make damning accusations without providing specific supporting evidence, those who deliberately cause strife, and those who have otherwise demonstrated a lack of personal integrity by things they say and the way they approach others.

I think those beliefs are shared by many who hang out here, as well.

I'm not hurling insults at you specifically fabinc, but am bringing this to your attention to afford you the opportunity to demonstrate to all which side of the fence you are truly on.

I think since you brought this up, you should do your best to resolve it for the benefit of the community here, as well as yourself.

he is refering to me. a while back we were working together and he was building a car for me. i brought over my 68 baja bug in running and driving order. as well as a very nice pit bike that we agreed was worth 800 dollars of work on my car. which was what i wanted. a while down the road and i go to check out on a friends car that fabinc was building and it looked amazing. i was very happy with the work that was done and wanted to make sure what all was going to be done.

so a couple months go by and some other buisness between him and a friend of mine goes down much like this type of situation.

meanwhile i brught over a parts car with IRS rear suspension and donated the rest of the car to him for some of the other projects he was working on. i also baught brand new race trim high back suspension seats from karls, some fox shocks, and other misc parts for him to install on the car since he was doing the work anyway. no additional funds have been spoke of for this work as well.

so a couple more months go down the road and we are talking frequently and everything was going smoothly.

we had aranged to have me just take the car that he built for my friend from earlyer in the story. and i said i would love to! the car was built very well and was already what i had planned for my car only with alot more. and again. no additional funds have been spoke of at this point.

so i come down on the day we had aranged, and there was still ALOT of work that was needed to be done on the car. i was there all day helping him with the car so it would be done sooner. i knew he had a bad back and was very cool with getting in there and getting the car ready to take home. we worked hard all day on the car. had some beers, burgers and what not. just a good time......now he brings up that additional fundage will be required for the baja that im now taking. when he already sold the pitbike and the baja that i mentiond earlyer. i gave him like 60-70 bucks on the spot for a nose cone for the irs tranny. no big deal.

he starts listing all these parts that i now need to replace and pay for when this was his idea to give me this car instead. then he says "just give me 200 bucks and well call it even"

i say "OK"

i take the car home.

once i finally left late at night i forgot the title at his house. i sent him an email asking for the title to be mailed to me. he says that he will not be sending the title to me until i pay him.

side note: now the car was not running or anywhere close to being driveable. there was no axles at all, the steering colum needed to be tig welded which i do not have. the entire car needed to be wired, it needed breaks, and alot of other work to be driveable.

i send him an email again saying "why is it that i can trust you with all of this stuff that i have given to you and left at your house. ALONG WITH sending him the title to my yellow car for him to sell to make the money on the work he was doing on the car i was receiving.

THIS IS SO CONFUSING!!

he took the email completly the wrong way saying that i am just trying to screw him over and that i dont plan on paying him so F me and not to worry about paying him because i wasnt going to anyway (sarcastic) i told him i have every intention of paying him but i needed to get the car into my name so that i could get it registerd and everything. im not going to do all of that work on a car that i cant drive...

on a side note. i do not think i should of had to put any time or money into that car since i gave him one ready to drive and i got a project in return.

you all can take that and make what you want of it. that is the best i can explain the story to you all. i tryed to call him and talk to him over the phone like a man and he didnt want to talk. he was rude and imature.

the car was then sold for a fraction of what i had into it.

he lost his cool...not me...as you can see he is still being imature

Cole

Just a quick note: I have no problems with small dust ups etc. or in little tiff now and then. BUT if this turns into some major blow up or giant tiff that in anyway disrupts the forums, people will be band 1st then asked questions later.

Every one here trys to keep it a nice place with out steping on too many toes. so grow up, fix it or get over it. Facts are cool and ok, But He said she said stuff etc. gets old real quick.

Just keep in mind, this is for every one, I'm not just point a finger at the people posting now.

i posted the story of what happend. thats all...i was trying to avoid this conflict with fabinc by not posting anything. he is the one causing a problem. i have over 300 posts here and have 3+ karmas. i have sold things on here as well as baught things on this site...i have built somewhat of a repor with everyone on here in a very easy manner.

im just a guy who loves vws and dont want any of this high school drama to be thought of here. i hate this crap and dont want anything to do with it anymore.

i said very positive things about this man even though he isnt doing the same with me. im also saying bad things about this man. i would never think of giving this man the opertunity to work on anything of mine again.

this thread was created to get to the bottom of fabinc's statement about me. well i have nothing to hide.

like i said im the other post if any of you want to handle this like men and talk to me personally over the phone please call me 928-451-4990

thank you.

I think these two can air this thing out here, and keep it under control. I hope so, anyway.

Thanks Eric.

(And I really like your picture.)
