Definetly need 5 X 5s in the rear to make up for the width of the front end!

Yes, You look to be running stock rear arms on the car. Need to get some 3x3 arms on it or bigger...I'm sure that is in your plan anyway.

at least i hope thats his plan...would be a waste to do all that to the front end and nothing to the back...but well see.

some 5x5s would make that car sick as hell. good luck...your off to a killer start...keep it up

That explains the lack of an engine in the conventional place. Its a mid engine hover Baja. Nice job how long before the rear suspension matches the front? Once the rear suspension mstches the front you can prove how a good suspension is faster than a larger engine.

Off to a good start! I don't see any limiting straps? How much travel in the front? Rear?

Are you doing the 3x3's because you don't want to move the engine rearward? I would think 5x5's would be a better match for you if you are willing to move the engine/transmission.

if he does choose to run 5x5s, would he be able to put in a bus tranny to get the extra length he needs? i know they are longer but i dont think its that much longer.

may be somthing to think about if it would work man

I have seen it, it is not a kit, custom made.

The flanges are in about the same place as a type 1. The reason to move it back is to get less compound angle on the cv's.

Bus transaxles are wider than the stock VW IRS so your Half shals are shorter with a Bus Transaxle. With shorter half shafts you get less wheel travel do to the incress of CV angles. That is why you go to 3x3 arms etc. to incress the length of your half shafts. The longer the shaft the less the angle at the CVs for the same given amount of wheel travel.

You don't have to move the transmission with 5x5's
