As promised I have started a thread in regards to the 1970 Baja that was previously for sale at on this site.

The vehicle is currently being torn down for work, but here is what I can tell you. The entire chassis is .095 DOM and built by FABINC (Fun Ass Buggies) in Gilbert. He is a member of this site and many may know him. The work is first rate. The front end has gusseted stock trailing arms and spindles. Stock brakes all around and FOX 2.0 shocks front and rear. Boxed in rear arms and a type 1 IRS trans. Hope is to build a lightweight, fun car to take to races.

FunAssBuggies (FABINC.) Gilbert, AZ. (480)-219-2584 (James)

As work progresses I will update the build here with photos.

Good luck with your new project. Stock suspension what a brutal class to race.

Front and rear cages are currently with James at FABINC of gilbert. New skid plates will be added. As of today, tear down continues for prep of the body for paint. I will update as things progress.

As many of you may or may not know - the stock 5-1600 class in the WHIPLASH series is wide open for bajas to join. There currently are NO! I repeat NO bajas runing in this class, which from what I have seen from the last 5 races I have been to - this would be a very fun class to run in since there is currently no competition. There are guys spending tens of thousands of dollars on rhinos' & class cars that never finish the race and the guys that are running basically stock cars seem to finish everytime. Which was why I started building these cars. Obviously you can pick up a running car for roughly $3000 which is super cheap to go racing. Im serious guys! You all should get on board with this and lets take the WHIPLASH serious by force with the baja class dammit ! ! ! Anyone interested ? ? ?

Okay! Don't everyone jump at once. (just kidding) You should have fun bajain' anytime - anywhere.

Later -

In Hawaii used to Drag race my Duster and race circle track with my 76 400ci Cordoba, in an engine claimer class. I was prety much safe as no one would ever try to claim the 400ci for $500. No one had anything to put it in Smile

When I got back to Arizona I still wanted to race, beside Drag Racing my 360 Duster. My Baja started out with plans to become a racencar. but logistic of getting to a race and all the other stuff to go with it put a stop to that. Race 1600cc was stollen out of the car etc. so in went the 2.3 Ford. Never finished with all the bracing for the cage etc. and just kept it street legal. There is no gussets, cross bracing, door bars in the cage Sad but it's a streetable car that I can drive every day if I need too.

Thats the cool thing about WHIPLASH - they don't follow the same rules as CORR or SCORE so you can pretty much get away with running a stock car with mild modifications to areas such as suspension, tires, cage configurations. You have to run a stock 1600 but it can be dual port with carb limitations of a pict34mm maximum. From the races I have witnessed - it should be a relatively inexpensive for someone just wanting to race and have fun. There are several cars in the 1600 class but no bajas which I was surprised to see. Being such a cheap car to build you would think there would be more willing participants. From what I can tell it seems as though not too many people no enough about this class to get anything going. If anyone has the opportunity to check out one of these races - you should. It would be cool to get some baja representation out there on the track. Anywho - !

Just some food for thought. Hope to see more bajas getting involved out on the track in the near future.

Peace out -

I have the intention of racing mine in sportsman class, since the front end is extended, wider and 3x3's in the rear.
