hi guys,
my name is mike, i am 44 yrs old, and i live in Hartland , Maine(about the central region).

let me start by saying that at this end of the world, bugs are becoming a rare commodity, and you dont see many baja's. i know of ONE, but have loved these little bugguers since i was a kid.

i did have a rail at one time , many yrs ago, that was built from scratch along with one off road ride and a streetlegal, that my dad and i built together.hoping to one day build a baja, but it wont happen in the near future. at least not until my kiddos spread their wings.

i have been sandbagging in the builds and projects section for a couple of days and read EVERY thread and must say that you fella's have done some AWESOME work. true inspirations when you see what the machines looked like from the start ,compared to finish products. kudos to every one of you. i only hope that when i do get the chance to start, it will look as sweet as yours.

for now,

mike

dutch,
if i could afford to i certainly would. these days with the ecomomy what it is, and being the only one in the home working, i have to take care of the priorities first.my wife was hurt at work a while back, so now she takes care of the home.

i recently got laid off from my job for a short period , do to lack of work, so its taking everything we have and then some to stay above water.real culture shock for the kids, but now they know what life is REALLY like.

someday it WILL happen, i will find a bug for the right price, and go from there. i might be retired by the time it is done, but then i will have plenty of time to enjoy it.

Indeed it is good for the kids.
I come from a non-rich family (Africa is poor). I started working when I was 15 to buy the stuff I wanted but learned at this age how life works.

Sorry to hear you got laid of. Is it bad in your area?

hi guys,

been a while since my last post, but i have got to say ...you fellas all do some remarkable work. i have gone all thru this site reading for hrs. and hra. i have gone to shop talk, and the samba as well, and cannot believe the things i have seen and learned!

now i REALLY wish i was back to work, so i could start looking for a project.oh, i have to admit, i am in love with baga ghias rig and also bugzyla's fasty.

i may not be able to start right now, but nothing keeps me from reading.nice work everyone!

mike ps...hope everyone is finding this economy and recession easier to deal with than i am.i have worked , and worked darn hard all my life. never been layed off until this year, so i guess i have been lucky. i didnt think it would be this long, but i have been out for 8 months now, and only getting a little scratch work now and then.i have filled out what seems like a million applications now, and still the phone doesnt ring.keeping my chin up and praying for a break.

Wow mjbrown, that's courage. I've only been laid off from one job in my life but that was way back in my high school days. I've thought about it alot lately with the current state of the economy. Then I read about folks like you that seem to find the courage to keep your chin up regardless. I know it would take all that I had just to do that.

Hopefully you and your wife will get things turned around and you and the entire family can start a Baja project together. It sure brings you together. Looking forward to the Ghia project I have with/for the wife.

Welcome to the madness (I mean the site) Wink
