Being new to the valley I need to know if anybody knows a good/reasonable welder. I had to pull my rear cage to replace the tri-mill with a quiet pack and will need to extend my cage about 15”. What I want to do is take the same size tubes both inner and outer and sleeve 4 extensions so I can slide those onto the mounts already on the car and bolt them and then just slide the cage onto the extensions and use pins to hold them.

I will be out of email contact for about 2 days while I move into town so I will check this when I get back on but thanks in advance for any suggestions.

dont know how much your looking to spend, but i bought mine at lowes. its a lincoln pro-core 100, its wire feed and will weld up to 1/4" material. i think i spent around 350 for it. what ever you do, resist buying a cheap chinese piece, from harbor freight, you'll be sorry... Evil or Very Mad

Watch the Pawn shops, they rarely know when they have real quality tools apart from the standard junk. I cant think of the brand of it right now, but I got quite a gem for $75 (new in box!)

Well I got back online today (4 friggin days of messin with the dish only to find I had a bad coax.) What I was needing was a "welder" not the actual welder Smile but thanks for all the responses anyway.

Say10 - I want to get with you, it wouldn be much of a project just need 4 15" tubes tacked or welded with 4- 6" tubes that will slide inside the 15" ones.

I guess I could just use bolts and bolt it together just seems a little easier to just weld em up and slip em on.

if you are having tubes welded together, you need to make sure that the person doin it is qualified enough to do a proper seam (especially if you need strength from it)

check with chewbacca (bugzylla)

Yeah so we can target your trailer queen and put it out of our misery Smile no just extending a rear cage after putting on a new exhaust.

i bought a 110 mig gas welder at harbor freight for 150 bucks and it kicks ass suprisingly, thats the perfect first project for welding after a little practice on scrap, plus you can say you did it! look up a welding web site for some tips. if you know the right teqniqe from the beginning it speeds up the learning process alot.
