Hello all,

I would like to hear the unusual customization ideas you have for your Bajas. I have a lot of my own, and I'll share when I see some here. Some moderately wild things are already on the forum - using LineX for the floor covering, custom bumpers and the like. But I'd like to hear some of the really mad ideas, even if they're just pipe dreams so far.

Cheers,
Steve

All my crazy ideas will remain secret. That way when one of them works right I can make some money on it.

Alright, as a few examples:

- Winch mount on both front and back bumpers, and have the ability to put the winch on either side.

- I'm going to be fabricating a swamp cooler whose air intakes are on the hood, and the fiberglass water reservoirs will be down those holes on either side of the trunk. I'll be putting the air ducts into the heater ducts on the corners of the dash.

- Line-X interior with drains. I'm going to try to have basically no upholstery in my car so that I can use a hose to clean my cars' interior.

- I'll be fabricating cubbies and tie-downs to put all my various tools and spare parts in the trunk.

- This weekend I'm going to paint my exhaust header with anti-rust oven paint (good up to 1200 degrees, as opposed to engine paint which is only good up to 300).

Dirt Junkie, I just built a prototype link pin beam that bolts into a balljoint frame head. I will have them for sale soon, in any length you want from stock to 10" wider, and up tp 6 inches norrowed for you ground scrapers. I just dropped the pan on the ground with the beam on it last night, I wil;l take some pics and post the in the next few days.

As far as other wild ideas..... You guys got a few months???

I will say that I have had too many ideas over the years, some have worked, some havnt. My favorite non VW crazy idea is my supercharged Go Ped I built about 7 years ago.

im working on running an external oil cooler in front on the beam with air slots in the nose. Also im putting a sounds system in my car that will blow the pants off all these little ricers running around Twisted Evil . Using the kick panels cut for speakers, speakers in the rear cargo area, amps in the side panels, maybe subs under back seat, also thinking about using fiberglass to mount speakers under the dash, and these for sure but might be replacing the speakers later on www.jcwhitney.com/auto...87/c-10108
Im also thinking of fab'ing mounts for safari doors www.jcwhitney.com/auto...19/c-10108

it'd be sweet to cut the back off a baja and make a truck right. Then remove the engin but leve the transaxel inplace for the suspension to work. then add a engin and propeler from a air boat (302 ford or 351 chev V8 etc) the weight of the V8 would be near the center of the car, and mounted to the roll cage. Put on wide tyres on the back and skinier sand rail tyres on the front for good steering. The cool thing would be if you could rig up power steering in the front and also to the rudder on the back so you'd have like "quadra steer". I think this would be sweet in the sand. Easy to roll though I should imagen. I drew up a quick pic on paint but i cant figure out how to put them on to here.
