You will either need a 10 degree trans mount kit to make the shift tube stay inside the tunnel, or a standard bus to bug mount and a shifter box to weld on top of the tunnel. Warning if you dont have a body lift you will need to modify the body with this method so the shift tube and coupler will clear, with a body lift you just drill a hole for the shift rod to go through. The next step is to carefully bend the 1/2 steel tube attached to the pan that the clutch cable goes through towards that driver side of the car about an inch so it will clear the larger bus trans case. Once the trans is bolted in you just need to make sure you have the right length axles (usually an inch shorter that the bug axle) and either change the CV joint on the transaxle side to a bus (slightly bigger than a bug CV) or use bus CVs on both sides of the axle and replace the stub axles to accept the bus CVs. Before installing the motor you will need longer studs on the bottom of the case/block. The easiest way is to get some 10mm allthread and cut it to length. Once you get this far the rest should be the basics.

What are the 'right length axles' that work? I would guess that bus axles are too long. Do you have to shorten Type I axles? I'd just as soon use inner bus CV joints and outer Type I CVs that will bolt to the Type I stub axles.

Thanks for your quick reply Daryll. I'm looking forward to clarification.

If you have stock length arms, here you go: www.chircoestore.com/c...ts_id=2474

Question about this? Do you have to change any of the tranny mounts?

I think I figured it out, as far as what I needed. The 10degree bus to bug mount, and the shift shaft coupler is needed" that's where I got confused" , 2 Inner bus CV's, and or both and stub axles, Bend the clutch tube, Bus to bug axles, longer studs on the bottom, and the tranny. Is there anything else? I hate getting into this stuff and end up waiting 2 weeks or more for some stupid $5.00 part nobody has.

Yea, I'll need em'. Hey can you tell me what the deal is with the bracket and this shift drop arm? I thought that with the mounts, that puts the tranny in the proper position? Then I saw this on another thread. www.mooreparts.com/sto.../AC710003/ So what gives, do I need both items to complete this?

Don't look at me about the horns. My baja has had the frame horns removed and full cage built to hold everything in.

I'll send you a message before I head to havasu again. should be in the next 4 weeks or so.

Im new to this baja stuff too, but that looks like a bracket you would use if you didnt do the 10* mount to keep the shift rod in the tunnel.

This part is to connect the shift tube to the trans when using the standard conversion mounts which has the trans shift shaft above the tunnel and the shifter tube in the tunnel.
