What size wheels do you guys recommend? I'm running 31" tires in the rear "IRS" right now and I have the torsions slightly preloaded. In front I have a Ball joint front end with adjusters, so the front is kind of lifted. The stock vw rims are quite rusted from sitting in Washingtons weather and not being taken care of for a few years. I was just going to go with either the white or chrome spokes becasue I can't justify 200+ a wheel for Centerlines and finding them used is pretty much a joke as you all know. So what should I do, what are your thoughts????? Let me know and thanks for looking.

I think I'm running a 15x8 with a 30x11.5 and it looks/works real well. I'll measure when I get home. I just got a set of steel/chrome wheels and I'm real happy with them.

you can get some douglas polished aluminum wheels for about 120 a piece if you want to spend that much. I have 15x5.5s on the front of my baja w/ some of those nanco offroad tires and they seem to do fine. plus the wheels look really good.

With a 30 or 31 inch tires the 15x8 wheel works the best, on the from the 15x5 or 15x6 works well. Like JWH said, you can get the douglas or similar wheels from Chirc, Karls, or other suppliers from $105 to $120 each. Not that much more than white spokes.

every place I check on Douglas wheels says they're for off road only? And I haven't seen them for $105. I think I'll go with the 15x6 and the 15x8. Now for the searching. I got the body back on her day before yesterday "new pans" and it's getting closer. At least it's looking like a car again. Is there any good suppliers around that are close to Havasu? I need a few more items, but I've been waiting becasue it's the heavy stuff and expensive to ship? So are the wheels? If I could find a good shop????

well mine are the sand wheels that say offroad use only, but what do i care? they're .190 wall thickness and they're actually thicker than the center lines i have on the back of my car. and even though they were aluminum, they were still pretty heavy for 5.5 inch wide wheels.

i got mine from Xtreme Tire in Phoenix and they were $117 each. Much better when compared to the same size center line for $261.

Aluminium are light and better looking than steel wheels but steel will take more abuse before bending.

Don from Chirco's recommended not to get the Douglas wheels for a desert Baja. There are for sand.

I have BTR's for the frt and then everyone ran out of them so I still do not have the rears.

I'd rather go aluminum, but I was hesitant with them being off road only? Does Douglas even make a 15X8 I've been looking at a few online places and they seem to go from front sizes straight to sand rail 15 x 10 -12-and even 15 ?

Hey if someone could help me out i'm trying to order some wheels up and I've benn arguing with the people at discount tire. What size backspace should I run with a 15x8 rear wheel? Since were on it, What about the fronts, im going with the 4 lug disc brakes, 15x6 wheel. Somone told me backspace doesn't matter as long as it's a 15" wheel?

Backspacing depends on your setup. The less backspacing, the further out the tire is and is harder on the wheel bearings. The way I would decide on backspacing is: Measure the backspacing on a wheel and tire you have. Mount it on the car, cycle the suspension to full bump. Inspect for contact with the body. This information will give you a starting point.
