I was hoping someone could help me ID the front beam in my Baja. This this has been totally pieced together and I would like to either get the proper parts to fix it, or go with disc brakes. I have a BJ front end with the wide 5 lug pattern. What year? I have no idea, the body is a 66, everything under it is supposedly a 70. I've got type 3 wide 5 drums in the back, from what year? I can't say. This is making it a little difficult buying replacement parts. So what years were they using ball joint and 5x205 lug patterns on the front end? What years do I use for parts? Thanks, if you can help?

No it's got an IRS rear, with the wide 5's. That's what confuses me? I thought about switching the head of the pan and going to a link pin when I repalced the floors but I figured I'd rather do it on something that's a little better condition to begin with. This thing was pretty much a resurection from the dead. If I didn't do it she would've never survived. When I got this baja it was in the woods of Washington, green with moss and the almost new 1776 was completely full of water and seized beyond belief. Hindsight, I probably should've left it. But you know how it goes, I had to make the call.

I should mention, The vin was re-coded in washington. They punched the original vin umbers and put new vin plates on it. So I dont know? It's been interesting to get parts to say the least.

A '70 will have ball joint front and IRS rear. The PO probably put 66/67 frt drums on it and thing rears like Daryl suggested.

Yup that's what's going on. I appreciate all the help guys! Now Maybe I'll be able to find some brakes for this? I checked the drums and they are all over the limit for cutting, the pads are shot, and my adjusters are almost all the way out. Question, is it worth putting disc brakes on these? I seem to see alot for sale? I dont unstand why so many buy them and then take them off and sell them for like half of what they cost new? Unless they are high end of course. Is there some issue that I'm not seeing?

where are you seeing disc brakes for sale used? all I'm seeing is the new ones advertised in used section, and then the one guy on craigslist asking 320 for a set of ball joint fronts
