Thanks ahead of time. and for fyi I'm still new to bugs, so bare with me Smile

I found a gentleman here in Tucson with a 1969 Baja for sale for $1800

I drove it today, and it ran great, tranny shifted prefect. The bugs over all condition was good, Needs a paint job, minor body work, and the rear end needs to be adjusted to ride better with the larger tires it has, rear driver side rubs the fender.

From what the info that was given to me, Tranny is fairly new.
Its running a 1834cc Dual port, rear IRS.

I guess my question to you guys, Is $1800 a decent price? Anything I should look out for?

tucson.craigslist.org/...07894.html

He has a few photos posted on CL.

Thanks again, and anything you can help with would be great.

well the rubing of the fender is no biggie
you can just take of the fender it is 6 bolts or something like that i would be weiry of the fender rubbing only on one side though.
also
ask questions like when were the ball joints replaced. they need to be replaced every 4 years. paint is the last thing to worry about.
my paint is not great but who cares and why paint it when im just going to scratch it up anyways offroading.
also make sure all the electrical is good and everything works fine and dandy.
i dont have anything else
someone else might though.
just my $ .02

I have seen this on CL also. It doesn't look to bad though. I would definitely check the pans for rust as well as the rest of the car. If it runs and drives ok it would be up to you. Maybe someone else here can tell you other things to look for . There have been a lot of good deals lately, economy is bad you know. I would try to talk him down some. I am thinking around 1400

Electrical is all good, All lights, turn sigs work, checked all that before driving it, Pans were replaced 4 years ago when the guy bought the car, been in AZ the whole time.

The fender only rubs when hitting a bump, he said that just needed to adjust the torsion bars (i think)

From what he said, hes only kept up on the maintenance, Replaced the tranny about 2 years ago.

He seems fairly firm on the price.

Rolling Eyes Razz

Doesn't sound like a bad deal at all, considering some of the piles o' crap I've seen advertised for MUCH more.

Good luck- and post some GOOD pics when you get er done! Wink

Thanks for all the help fellas been alot of help, I just wanted to be sure what I'm getting myself into.

I'm thinking going in at 1500, Seems like a fair price. he paid 1800 for it, 4 years ago.

As for the Rear fender rubbing, should it be anything to worry about or just a adjustment?

it may need new torsion bars, or you could adjust them. I just replaced the one ones in my 69 and it made a ton of difference.

If the tires are to big you may be able to just trim the rear fenders, better look and no rub Razz
