I am trying to take the body off my 68 bug, just to see how everything looks and stuff, but am stuck on taking the steering column out. It is loose and everything except i cannot get the wires from the turning signal out and the ingnition wires out of the actual steering wheel assembly. Any suggestions would be welcome.

To take the wires out of the column you have to remove the wheel.

Why are you taking the column out? The body comes off the pan after you disconnect the steering shaft from the box and the horn wire. The rest if the wires stay with the body.

disconnect them from the fuse panel and dthe flasher. Push the wire's back through the hole and then you disassemble the steering wheel. if you don't disconnect you will end up cutting.
