what kinda trans are you running..? |
A broken one
Its a Fields built 3-speed auto trans. I blew out the torqur converter seal again and puked all the fluid out and burned up the automatic section of it. It seems as though there was a problem with the torque converter and it is destroying seals. I found a place in town called BSE performance who has built severalof these units. I am dropping it off this week to get built and I will be good to go!!!

nope, I'm new to chat forums and got the last page as a link from some other dumb questions I asked in another link or thread or whatever you call these little topic things each new post or topic is. I did figure out about the previous page thing after posting and would still like a concise parts list for the a-arm setup and to know if npetric could build another front end assembly and what it may cost.
twisted metal thanks for trying to make me feel dumb, I'm sure your something else with a key board and your net-fu is far better than mine.

Wasn't trying to make you feel dumb, I was trying to make you feel lazy.
I can tell you atleast one thing: You aren't going to get ANYWHERE with a mouth like that.
The 2nd thing I'm going to tell you is that NO ONE is going to go through that much research and work only to hand it over to the first chump too lazy to read the prior 8 pages of a "Here's how I did it" thread.
And I have no kungfu, what I DO have is a desire to learn and now spend every waking minute(and there's a lot, I'm an insomniac) studying instant centers, polar moments, kingpin angles, anti-dive, static loads, on and on.
Try it...you might like it.
And now that THAT'S all off my chest, where are you in your build and what are you trying to gain? Perhaps it's too big of a job for you to atempt at this point. That's NOT meant to be an insult in the least. I've been building rock crawlers and tube chassis for a decade and the desert car stuff is mind boggling! I tried to jump right in and nearly drowned. I am still trying to dump everything I THOUGHT I knew and am starting all over as a newbie. That's hard to do with any self pride from previous builds, but no place for pride when starting new. Suck it up and READ READ READ, but then, go out to the garage and build, hope it fails so you can learn a little, then rebuild!

I do a lot of welding with arc and wire feed I've got a 70 baja that I'm trying to decide which way to go with the front end now its stock so I'll be cutting the frame head off wether its for a modified beam or swing arm any way. as far as asking about a list, I try to keep track of things like that and don't mind sharing what I've learned from my experience. thats why I enjoy things like this

Well...when you're ready to get REALLY humbled...go visit
www.race-desert.com .
Don't say much or ask, just go to the Shop section in the forums and start reading. Give me a minute and I'll even post some links up for you to check out. There's some sick Baja Bug/A-arm threads up. There's also a difference between the sand cars like Npetrics and a desert race car, so you'll kinda need to see where you're at and what you want. Honestly, it probably doesn't fugging matter. I CONSTANTLY try to tell myself that, but I get so caught up in all the little techy details...no wonder I burn out on things so fast! But MOST cars are set up like Petrics. They maintain a consistentcamber degree throughout it's travel cycle, while others(the way I'm doing mine also) actually change quite a bit to grab max traction and protect the sidewalls under hard cornering/bottom-out, and yeild a minimal scrub patch. And NO, 2 months ago I had no idea what all that crap meant either!
Npetric...sorry if I'm hijacking your thread here! Yell, if so!

Good design, but kinda ugly...
race-dezert.com/forum/...hp?t=39938
Not bad, but not as effective...but I doubt he'll be hitting speeds where all that will become necessary!
