Thanks for the compliments, guys- I'm REALLY proud of the way it's looking, even though I'm not the one that did most of the work (I PAID for it- does that count?).

Dan- I only WISH I only had $3,500 invested in it! If you find something comparable for that kinda dough, you're CRAZY if you don't snatch it!

Vin- the arms are 2 1/2x1 Tweeds, chromoly.

The car is at Daryll's as of yesterday. Having to redo a little of the front cage work, and also having to add a bigger master cylinder for the brakes, as the small CNC reservoir isn't going to be enough to push the whole system. *sigh*

It's only money, right? Laughing

Tony, saw it at Daryll's yesterday. The detail work on the frt looks great!
The rear arms spring plate mount are a little to the inside? Looks like you had to make a spacer. Looks very nice!

Thanks, Don. Yes, the tabs on the new 3x3s didn't want to fit inside (between) the spring plate pieces (trailing arm travel didn't feel 'natural'), so we decided to cut the spring plate tabs off of a pair of stock IRS trailing arms I had laying around, and just attach the 3x3s to the inboard side of the spring plates. The alignment worked out nicely, and seems like a better option than having the trailing arms constantly moving at an awkward angle (tearing up pivot bushings, etc. in the process).

I'm totally stoked about how the car sits- it's got a real nice stance to it. I think I'll raise the front a little, as it's still got a bit of a nose-low rake, and the torsion adjusters are currently bottomed out anyway. Can't hurt to put some tension on them, and raise the front at the same time.

Thanks, David. For now, I just want it DRIVEABLE again! I've promised the wife that there'll be no more in-depth mods any time soon! Adding the CB, maybe on-board air and of course the 57baja roof rack project! That's about it though...

Just paid Bugzyla a visit. Car's looking good, and getting closer to being done. Steering is done, front upper beam supports have been redone, brakes are mostly plumbed, and Shawn is working on the rear upper shock mounts. Hopefully, the new master cylinder will be here anytime so the brakes can be DONE.

Well, the car is home from Bugzyla's lair. Brakes are DONE! Shawn did a real nice job on the brake plumbing. Tabs welded to the tunnel for line support, etc. Very clean install. I've got a handful of tasks to complete while waiting for the FOA fronts to show up. I emailed them two days ago to get a status update, but haven't heard back yet. Sad

So, in the meantime, I need to-
1- pack the stub and trans flanges with CV grease (forgot to do it when I greased/assembled the CVs- DOH!)
2- lube the front end
3- paint the rear shock hoops inside the car
4- re-install fuel tank and fire it up!
5- bump stops and limiting straps all around
6- take rear shocks and get them charged

I'll have some wetsuit work to do in the rear wheel wells too.

Sure hope those front shocks show up soon...

Items 3 and 4 are done. 1,2,5 and 6 to go.

It was nice hearing it run for the first time in six months. Fired up first try with a shot of starting fluid down both barrels.

Tonight the plan is to disassemble/reassemble/lube the front end. BAP is out of CV grease, so I'll have to hold off a bit on that.

Now, if I could just get FOA to reply to my status inquiries as to when my shocks will be done, things would just be peachy...

Tony, did you try to PM Chris on STF? He usually gets prompted on those and will check for you. Mine came right when they said they would, back then it was 3 weeks or so.

I just got an email response today (I sent another inquiry last night) and he said they'd been waiting on some new parts for the piggybacks due to a seal improvement they were making. He kept mine back so they'd be equipped with the improved seal parts, so they should be done/shipped by the end of this week. That's why it's taken a little extra time.

Well, major bummer today. I figured out I'm gonna need new rear shocks. I serviced up the Pro-Comp/Bilstein/Edelbrock/now nobody knows what brand they are with 200 psi of nitrogen, and the shocks don't seem to work right. Since I can't figure out for sure who made the things, I have no way to try and rebuild them. The biggest bummer about this is the lead time to get new ones built from FOA (not to mention another $4-500). Ouch. Oh well. *sigh* Laughing

Well, the shocks came this week. Here's one sorta installed. They forgot to include the bushings to bush down the openings to 1/2", so they're sending them out. Probably be next week before I get them though.

Ummm, no. I'm waiting for front shock bushings from FOA (they forgot to enclose them), and some dude in QC hijacked my seats. Laughing

I have to buy rear shock bushings this week too, and yank the rear arms off and correct the error I made assembling the rear pivot bushings. Aside from that, it's pretty much ready.

Too much stuff going on right now!
