Question, why run such a high detergent oil in that engine? The bearings are so loose I doubt they really care but normally I'll only recommend that stuff for diesels.

Castrol is good, Valvoline seems to do the job just fine, pennzoil is junk (almost as bad as fram filters), Kendall is pretty good.

Main reason to run the diesel oil is to help keep from wiping the cam. here is a good explanation. www.hotrod.com/techart...mmary.html

Not wanting to get into an oil brand argument here, but I have been running penzoil since I was a kid, had plenty of motors that went over 100K and never an issue, nothing went wrong oil related and when I ripped them apart they were not full of sludge like I have heard some poeple say. I also worked as an automotive machinist for 8 years, the most common problem with engine failure is overheating and lack of changing oil, not the brand you use. Bottom line use your favorite brand of oil and in AZ I would recomend straight 30 weight in the winter and straight 40 weight in the summer. Multi viscosity oils tend to cause lower oil pressure in bug motors at idle. This is from experience not from hear say.
